Default World championships question

I'm fairly new to this sport and am trying to figure out the ins & outs of it. I looked at the results of the 2003 world championships, but I don't know how many targets were shot. I read the rules, but I didn't see where it specified the number of targets. Can someone help me out?

stickshooter - I can tell you the program for the Traditional classes. 1st day - 20 targets range 1. 2nd day - 20 targets range 2. Top 5 total shoot 10 more for accumulated total score on 3rd day.

2003 there were 2 ranges for trad. Everyone shot 20 targets on fri but on different ranges. Sat shooting got called because of lightening threats in area. There was no contingency plan, so the top 5 from each range shot sun 10 new targets with no scores carrying over. Many were vocal in their displeasure concerning this decision. I feel the officials did the best they could under some difficult conditions. Far too easy to second guess for some.

2004 has an added "buffer" day in case of something similar. Plus I would bet the officials have come up with alternate plans for most forseeable problems. I have been the last 2 years and will be there again this year. Had a great time and met some grat people. See you there.

If you go be prepared for weather, a difficult walk thru the course and cancellation. Even with the buffer, there is no guarantee that what has happened the last two years wont happen again. While snowshoe offers great accomodations, it is a not a great place to hold a tournament. The course itself is dangerous. A shooter should not have to repel down a hill holding his bow in one hand and a rope in the other to pull his/her arrows. The fog is so thick some mornings that you cannot see 15 -20 yards. Ask around and many will confirm what I am telling you.

Philip is not bitter he is accurate. There are other national tournaments out there. Before i spend my money I would explore other opportunities if I were you. Good luck

IBO = International BOWHUNTER Organization - not field or target with open mowed lanes. There are other shoots that offer that. Snowshoe Mountain is challenging - but no more so than many areas I bowhunt. And the accommodations are very good especilly for an event as large as the Worlds. To each his own and this is my opinion only.

SteveBNy could not have said it better. The IBO is more of a Bowhunter's type course. It is actually what you would have if you were bowhunting, gunhunting, whatever hunt you may be on.

Everyone who is all pi$$ed off of the snowshoe situation. You didn't like it the first time it happened yet most came back, it happened again, your still griping, yet you'll be back again. And if not go somewhere else. Everyone is just out there to have fun. If everone were allowed to go shoot on Saturday and if your husband/wife were out there shooting and did happen to get struck by lighting. You would be bit$ching because they didn't shut it down and trying to sue them. Snowshoe shut it down anyways, Not the IBO. So quit yelling at the IBO and call snowshoe.

If you hate it that much, quit coming and go somewhere else and good luck. Now hurry up and start dissing me.

3D shooter I am not here to diss only to offer my opinion. FYI, I came back because I was talked into it. I had a non weather related problem with the IBO the year before but because of addition of the 11 rule I came back.

where I shoot is my business, but I am choosing to shoot in a safer and more organized environment. We are target shooting not hunting. I hunt all over the country, so I know what rugged country is like. But I wouldn't go out trying to make 45 yard shots in fog that I couldn't see 20 yards in. And that was what we were forced to do....yes forced otherwise we would have been "DQ'ed".
So before you start telling me that I am crying over something, be a man and put your profile up so we can talk face to face. You don't know me or my situation and I was just offering my opinion just like anyone else.
And by the way people had a right to be pissed. It wasn't that the mountian was closed. It was the fact that they sent us out at 8am in that crap and then held everyone else up because it was too dangerous. Then left us at the bottom of the mounian next to a lake with a thunderstorm coming. And your telling me we were safe.....I didnt feel safe.

I want to say i'm not in the same class ,but first you have to pre register. This is they only event that you have to do this .The triple crowns you can register that day. Following your preregistration the IBO will send you 2 score cards .On these cards you will find some info on day ,time ,and courses that you will shoot . 20 targets first day 20 second.weather permiting.

There is alot to do at this Snowshoe Mt,the archery is just half of what you will incounter.Wildlife in numbers YOU will not believe.I've enjoyed two trips which both had somthing great to talk about. The people you meet new friends to be made.I don't have to say no more.

This competion is in some tuff to handle terrain. Its not made to be easy.I was glad to have courses at all three legss of the midwest classic triple crown tuff .
because it takes more than just a good shot to be number one.Class MBR
If you go to have fun, have fun. Hope this was of help to you!

Had a great time last year even with the weather problems. Stickshooter by your name you are probably shooting a longbow like me, or a recurve. The world championship is a very good shoot. They even put the trad and recurve shooters on there own course so it moves a long pretty fast.

Come on out and shoot if you can handle a few hills and a little fog and are looking to have a good time.
