here is the bottom line, as stated above, you will be scheduled to shoot a minimum of 40 targets at the world, weather permitting. in the past the weather has not been the best, but that is the way it goes.

world qualifiers shoot 30 or 40 targets. most state championships shoot 40 targets.

dont be scared off of shooting the world championship due to weather, it was unfortunate that the shoot was shortened, but those are the breaks. if someone decides they dont want to participate, that is one shooter i dont have to beat, but i hope they show, i like the competition.

the world shoot is very exciting, and can be overwhelming to new shooters. snowshoe is a very big place, and there are lots of venders and people......go with an open mind, and enjoy. you will not regret it....

as for the weather, the last time i checked, ken watkins may be able to walk thru water, but as of yet has not mastered walking on it. his only ability to control weather is based on his ability to operate an umbrella, or stay inside. ken has a huge task making sure we are all safe, and does a very good job of it.

stickshooter, Try it I think you will like it. Although it is not for the city folk who don't like to get muddy and its not at a country club it is a BOWHUNTER ORGANIZATION it is OUTSIDE it does rain along with ever other weather you can think of.
I will agree with you darkarcher Snowshoe didn't shut down the mountain the IBO did! Hmmmm who in the heck do you think is libel? Snowshoe or the IBO? Think about it! I am sure it will come to you.
. The Ken does allot but he cannot control the elements as some may think.

Take your FAMILY as they will enjoy it also! It is a FAMILY event with plenty for all to do!

and fourrunner its not for fair minded people who dont like feeling
cheated eather. cut the crap we did'nt drive five hours, practice all
year to play putt-putt with the kids, it was that kind of snide attitude
(city folk) that caused a lot of friction before the smoke even cleared.
mud was not the only thing being slung at snowshoe...phil

Well now. A fellow makes his first post to a forum to ask a question. States that he is new to the sport and trying to learn. And then our would be ambasadors step into the ring with a nice friendly welcome. Way to go guys. Thanks for helping promote the sport to the new guys. Sometimes I just have to wonder........

ok you folks it has now been six months since the worlds were shut down, in response to a post I read, it is my understanding that the IBO didn't shut down the shoot, that came directly from the person in charge at snowshoe. For those of you who don't know, it is my understanding that the IBO is under contract with snowshoe so that they must do what snowshoe tells them in case of the threat of severe weather. I know that there is pictures of an lightning strike on the pro ranges that left a 6 foot diameter hole three feet deep where the shooting stake was. My feeling that the right decision was made, do I feel dis appointed you bet but I'm still alive, enough about this! be thankful that nobody got hurt! Lets all look forward to a successful 3-D season.

I apologize for the silly city folk comment! That shouldn't have been said. All I was trying to get through was darn near anywhere you go you could have these conditions.
I also didn't drive 8 hours to play putt-putt with the kids. All 3 of my kids and I shot that weekend. That is what I meant as a FAMILY event. Again to philip and others I apologize. Steve

Stickshooter

40 Targets are Scheduled.

Go to the Mountain and expierence the shoot. Then and only then will you know what the expierence is worth. I will not give my opinion after having been there four years but you may come away with the satisfaction that it takes to make YOU happy.

The number of opinions here on the Forum are very small in comparison to the number of participants at the mountain. Your requirements for a good weekend are the only things that count.

I was at Snowshoe in 2000 and would not go back, jmho. Courses were very slippery due to LOTS of rain, people fell and injured themselves and broke equip. on the WARMUP RANGE!! One shooting stake was in the middle of a small pond sticking out of about 6 inches of water, it rained and thundered and my buddy and I got to ride up the ski lift in a thunder storm!! If you like excitement then this is the shoot for you!! Fog every morning that you would not believe!! If you get an early shooting time forget it!! Yes, there is alot for the family to do, more than in New York or W. V. As far as the this is a hunting org. blah blah blah, I do not take over a grand worth of sights, bow, etc, out hunting nor do I even hunt in weather like that. when I am shooting at a live animal I like to make every effort to make sure of a clean and quick kill. Don't thinkthis is all just sour grapes cause I finished 6th with a MISS that year, just an observation. When IBO decides to move to a better location I will be back.

this past year was my first year at Snowshoe. I had a great time and gained alot of knowledge about the sport. My farther went with me to the worlds this was the first time that he had ever been to a shoot of any kind he a great time and asked if I was going next year he wanted to go back. the weather is always going to be a factor no matter where you have the event.
