Howdy all,
I know that you all thought that I was gone for good. I'm still lurking around in the shadows.
It's been a long and hard year for me. I completely missed the construction project of the NEW Indoor range in Michigan and I certainly didn't want to see that happen. But circumstances being what they were. It was most likly better that I stay where I am.
Back in May my world was turned around for the second time with the news of my son and a serious condition with a tumor. Not to mention the break up of a marriage earlier in this year.
Things got a little better once hunting season came around. Got back out in the woods and actually shot a nice big doe the first day. OK it was a Doe but the first bow kill so I was pretty happy nice double lung shot at about 32 yards.
Then was notified by my job that I'm going to be working five eights next year. So no time to play and I'm really having a hard time with the no time off. Have been working a 4 day on 3 day off schedule for 14 years. SO it's a serious life change.
The last weekend in Modern gun season here in Kentucky I shot a Nice eight pointer so things are looking up. lots of venison in the freezer.
Now for the bad news I shot the buck on Saturday. Sunday while helping a buddy get his ten pointer out of the woods rolled over a four wheeler in a creek and separated my right shoulder. Separated it right where the collar bone and the sternum meet, torn ligaments. At this time in the recovery I cannot lift anything with that arm. Dr's say that once I'm completely recovered that I should be able to resume as normal but they recommend that no strenuous activities. OK what does that mean. Not weight lifting No rowing nothing that is going to put undue pressure on that joint. Best recoevery is still going to leave me with 7% to 10% loss in that shoulder. I asked about shooting a bow. The Dr. Said that he did not recommend it with out having the surgery. The injury was only about 2 weeks ago so we will have to see what happens once the bruised ribs and everything else heals. The Dr. came right out and told me that I might not ever shoot again unless I have the surgery. The surgery is where they go in and place a metal strap across the brest bone and attach it to the collar bone. So right now the jury is still out on what I'm going to do. I'll listen to anyone that has ever had this type of injury. The clinical name is Sterno-Clavicular Separation it is not a broken collar bone. Right now I'm wearing a sling except when I sleep. I have to keep the weight of the shoulder off the collarbone. If it was broken 4 to 6 weeks in a sling. For this because it is a ligament tear 6 to 8 weeks. If anyone has any info from a simular injury I'm willing to listen.
Hope that all have a great and safe holiday season.... I miss all of you guys up there @ Adam's Archery!
Regards,

We miss you too. Try to take a trip up and see the new building. I know you will get back to shooting.
