RE: Snow Shoe Suggestions for IBO

Judy,

Sorry to disagree with you about an increase in lodging but some of my buddies stayed at Stemwinder 1 unit 6 and they were told that there will be an increase of $120 for the same unit next year. They already reserved it.

Judy,

Don’t be broken hearted over something you don’t have control over. I hope everyone truly understands the hard work and dedication it takes to put on an event such as this. I appreciate the efforts of the all who do their best to make this an enjoyable time for all. I didn’t get to play on Sunday, but I had a wonderful time. God willing I’ll be there next year.

Thanks, Mike

Hi Judy,
We stay at the Highland House and we too already booked our same place for next year and were told that the increases will be for every place on Snowshoe Mountain next year. What should we do now? Thanks for any suggestions.:)

Judy

I was also told there would be a rate increase for next year so I didn' t book it yet pending on how much the increase was she told me she didn' t know the amount but it was going to go up.

Sorry not good enough for me I want to know the amount before I commit myself I know I could cancel and get a refund but I still wanted an amount now if I wait it will go up anyways so either way I get hit higher

Top of the World room 328
p.s my room did at least have fans in the closet to use this year. last year we didn' t and brought our own so a friend used ours this year because there room didn' t have any.

Granted dopler radar displayed a bad front, but it was narrow.

A bit more patience and the weather cleared up by 1:p.m., and that too was evident on dopler.

By the way, if the weather was so bad, why did all other functions continue?

Could have accomplished a 4 hour delay and shot 10 more on Saturday afternoon, final 10 on sunday.

Hopefully there will be a plan " B" next year. If snowshoe increases their rates they can shove it. ASA has a better plan./

Do not know about the rates, but the courses never change. People are falling on the good days and breaking equipment and body parts. It has been a problem at Snowshoe since day one. The Unpredictable weather on the mountain compounds the problem. I suspect there are a lot of folks that would like to participate that can' t because of the course' s. New York and Flat Woods were more shooter friendly. If SnowShoe can' t do better in designing better course' s it' s time to go elsewhere. The weather can not be controled, but boy scouts could come up with better coures considering how much land they have. Hanging by a rope and falling in mud is not fun. This is a world Bowhunting Championship, not an endurance test.

Another thing the IBO could look at is shortening the courses so it doesn' t take most of the day to shoot 20 shots. The scenery is beautiful but why walk all that way between shots? I have shot the IBO worlds 3 times and the weather is always a factor down there. Walking unnecessary distances just increases the odds of falling. Make the courses challenging but not something only a triathalete can cover. My 1st time down to SnowShoe I shot in the trophy round and finished 6th with a MISS! As I watched the awards on Sunday I couldn' t help notice that all 5 people on the stage were built like mountain goats, tall, lanky, look like they could walk home if they had to, was this an advantage in terrain like we shot in? You bet it was! Another thing I am getting sick of hearing about on here is the family atmosphere thing. This is the world championship of the IBO and should be held at a location condusive to holding a great shoot, not based on what little Billy and the little woman are going to be doing. If that is the case, then just move it to Disney World and get it over with!!

Judy we also had a great time at Snowshoe as a FAMILY! :):) We shoot as a FAMILY. (except for the wife)We appreciate all time you and the IBO has put in to all the shoots.!

We like the rough terrain it makes it more of a challenge . Shooting at the up and down hill angles and walking them .I wouldn' t have it any other way. Just my 2 cents. Have a great day. :D
