Amen to the old way. I talked to a friend today who shoots in the HC, he told me that a shooter at Gem City in the HC shot all 10' s, but had a low x(11) count. He shot like 5 or 6 up, and was beat by several other shooters who shot a few 8' s and 5' s but had a high x-counts. Now to me the guy who shoots NO 8' s or 5' s, is by far the BETTER shooter. PLEASE IBO, go back to " THE OLD WAY" . I am impressed Bartman how you broke down the scores in the MBO to show what the top guys would have shot without the 11-ring. I myself would have shot a 373 with 13-x' s, which is about par for me and I,m happy with that. The major concern as I see it, at Nelsonville there were 12 shooters in the MBO who shot above 400, which screws up the score standings for the top 30 shooters. Last year I qualified for the World at all three legs with a 5-6 point cushion in making the top 20. This year due to the 11-ring I missed the top 20 by 5-6 points because it spreads out the scores more. Bah-humbug on the 11-ring. Shoot the (other) organization if you want to shot up.

Question is, did all the shooters you have listed shoot from the the same stakes, the same course and under the same rules going in as the rest of the competitors, was the 10ring the same size for all and was the 11 ring the same. The game is the game and hunting is hunting. The 11s are not a gift, but a combination of skill and some luck. The game has changed and the person that is winning is not winning because he has not earned it.
The people at the top of each class want to stay there, so if you are going to beat them do it with your bow not the rule book.

First off, let me say that for me the scoring system makes very little difference. The shooter recording the most points under any system will win. The increased point spread is a concern, but only as it may serve to discourage new shooters. maybe. The arguments about what combination of hits is the best is fairly weak in my view point. 40- 8' s score the same as 10-5' s, 15-8' s and 15-10' s. Should we not score the 10' s so that you can not make up th 5' s? Any combination can be manipulated to say that combination A is better than combination B. As far as not looking like a " Hunting " organization.....what are we supposed to shoot like? I know that the 11 ring has caused me to focus harder on the smaller mark. The many people that I talk with are seeing this as well. Now from my hunting view point, I would have to say that is a very positive thing. As several people have pointed out in the past, 3D is not hunting , but rather a game we play to help train ourselves to be better. The goal of every hunter should be to make the most accurate shot possible. To that end, I feel that the new 11 ring scoring system is serving its role very well.
