First off, let me say that for me the scoring system makes very little difference. The shooter recording the most points under any system will win. The increased point spread is a concern, but only as it may serve to discourage new shooters. maybe. The arguments about what combination of hits is the best is fairly weak in my view point. 40- 8' s score the same as 10-5' s, 15-8' s and 15-10' s. Should we not score the 10' s so that you can not make up th 5' s? Any combination can be manipulated to say that combination A is better than combination B. As far as not looking like a " Hunting " organization.....what are we supposed to shoot like? I know that the 11 ring has caused me to focus harder on the smaller mark. The many people that I talk with are seeing this as well. Now from my hunting view point, I would have to say that is a very positive thing. As several people have pointed out in the past, 3D is not hunting , but rather a game we play to help train ourselves to be better. The goal of every hunter should be to make the most accurate shot possible. To that end, I feel that the new 11 ring scoring system is serving its role very well.
