Was this a private field?
if so landowner has every right to call the authorities,
if its on public lands,
some states/agencies have agreements with orgs. such as boy scouts to allow them to collect sheds,
whether these agreements are exclusive i dont know, i would check with your local authority to double check

I never heard that. Maybe on a federal park but I don't think there's anything wrong with finding them on SGL and certainly not on private property if it's yours or you have permission. I found three sheds this year at a local farm park. That's a record for me. One was a 7 X ??? (I couldn't find the other side) but the deer broke off his brow tine and drop tine before shedding. I have the picture posted on this board.

Believe it or not that was a ridiculous law just a couple of years back. Before if you found a shed you were suppose to leave it lay. (yeah right) But it is legal to have sheds today. That guy was right though it was a law.

Shed hunting has only been legal in Pa. for a couple years now. There are still some states that do not allow shed hunting. The N.A.S.H.A has a list of the states that do not allow shed hunting. It is illegal to remove sheds from parks and historical sites but the laws are usually posted in those places.I have read stories of the Govt. after catching people illegally taking sheds going to the persons homes that were caught and seizing every antler that did'nt have proper documentation.Gotta be careful these days.
