Any place where deer jump is a better place than others. Creek crossings, fence crossings, bedding areas. Also, there is a "trap" that works every so often. Take a piece of fencing and make a "V" with it. Put feed in the crotch of the "V" and hopefully if any bucks eat any of the food with loose antlers, they will get knocked off by the fence. It is a long shot, but it works occasionally....Good Luck!

The V or shedtrap that icall2much suggests does work .However it is something you need to check everyday .In years past on here and other forums I've read storys of bucks getting there antlers caught and seriously injuring themselves. There is no substitute for getting out and burning some boot leather.

Amen, I have been out several times now totaling about 10+ hours and have found nothing but three skulls (doe, 4 pt. and spike) sadly. But man, this is my first year seriously shed hunting and its almost exciting as deer hunting. With every glance, look, and turn you never know if that will be the one that leads you to that shed. Plus, you learn a lot more about your topography and the deer's patterns by getting out there and looking for them yourself.

Rockingchair....You said finding a shed is almost as exciting as hunting.Just wait until youstumble across your first monster shed your opinion on that statement will change.I've been shed hunting over 30 years and I still get just as excited as the 1st time I found one.I'm like a little kid on Xmas morning.I am usually the only person there and I still run to them like someone is going to beat me to it.I hope you find a ton and you get the same excitement out of that I do.

Thanks man, I was out yesterday on a little walk about and stumbled over what I thought for sure was a shed. It was under some leaves and I sprinted over to it and yanked it out of the ground, only to find another old bone! I was disappointed but I chuckled at myself at how excited I had gotten. I can't wait until I find my first!

Boot leather it the way to go... it is still real early too, so don't give up... my bro and I found these this weekend... the shed is from last year, and we found it about 15 yards off a well ribboned trial... (I hate ribbons all over the woods). I usually find between 20 and 30 a year... THAT IS A LOT OF MILES....
