RE: MD bear shot in WV new info
This is the info i sent the MD DNR:
This was a Male, completely black, in great body condition, weight was around 275 to 300 #, from nose to tail the hide measured 6 feet 7 inches. It was shot in the White Rock Glade near Fike Mtn. close to Crainsville in Preston County. The tag numbers are 458 & 460. I have attached a pic of the hide and head.
Thank You for any info:

Hi Joe,
Thanks for sharing this with me. It is especially interesting to me, as this bear was a cub-of-the-year in 2003. The bear was born in January 2003 near Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County, Maryland. The bear was the only male in a litter of 4 cubs. One of the other cubs was severely injured and eventually euthanized due to a logging accident (tree it was in was disturbed and the bear fell out) during the summer of 2003. The size of the bear is truly amazing as it is a yearling bear. This winter would have been this bear's first winter denning alone.
I hope you find this as interesting as I do. Thanks again for sharing it.
