Thursday afternoon 5 pm I had a nice 7 point checking a scrape near my stand ,he took two steps out of it and I thought I had a good shot almost broadside.Well I'm sure most of you have had that branch get in yourway before.Of course I hit it.Deer went down right away then got back on his two front feet but was dragging his 2 back feet so I thought I hit him in the spine.I let him go for about 3 hrs before we started to track him.When we looked at the arrow I was sick,it only pentrated about 3 inches.Well we had good blood right away.knowing it was'nt a fatal hit and we were pushing him we stayed on him till 11.30 that night trying to get him to bleed out.We gave up and I went back in the morning to last blood.I went about 40 yards and jumped him then the chase began,only he was charging me instead of me after him!!He came at me and I grabbed his horns and he lifted me off the ground like a rag doll.I let go and he took off again.Finnaly after a 25 minute wreslting match I finally dis patched him.It was 8/10ths of a mile from where I hit him.

WOW! At least you got him and had the sense to come back after him in the morning. Deer are tough.
