Default First Coyote of the Season

Well Friday was the Opening day for NY Coyotes. My first stand Friday before dark produced nothing. I made another stand Sunday evening and called one into about 100 yards. I missed a head on shot with the 6mm. It ticked me off so when I went out last evening I took the 12ga with #4 Buck. I stayed in the same spot for about an hour and one finaly came in and stopped behind a tree at 30 yards. When he came out he was angling away. I shot him at about 40-45 yards.

I will shoot at least one coyote to mount. I wouldn't eat one but I think you can sell the pelt. I just want one on my wall. Full mount - howling.

Besides selling the pelt, mounting it, They should be kept in check because, They also decimate the pheasant, quail and turkey population. Not to mention what they could do to the deer population during a hard winter.

doughboysigep,
Most of my hunting is at Ingraham Hill Road where I live or on Brady Hill where I grew up. Both places are south of Binghamton. The one I got the other night was at Ingraham Hill. I plan to head out towards Green, Smithville etc to try and get permission to call in some different areas. Its a blast. By the way my little girl and I went out for sqirrels and had a real good sized bear walk by us at less than 20 yards. My dog sat right beside me and never made a sound or a move. I don't think he knew what the heck to do. Katie was real excited.
