I played in a golf tourney yesterday and won a voucher for a free nights stay at the Quality Inn in Frederick. I have no need for this, so any of you guys who are coming from far away for the hunt on Nov 5th, you have a free place to stay for one night. Just let me know who needs it and I will give you the information so you can make reservations.

I'll be coming from NJ and could benifit from the use of the room (if no one else wants it) and would share with anyone else needing to room. Beats staying with mom or daughter in the crofton area. I do have a place but it's about 80 miles from there and even futher for the guys in Southern Md. so someone else might be more in need than me. Mossy, I like your thinking ;). BTW are you guys still hunting tomorrow? Is all that rain and tornadoes reaching that far west? That's what cancelled my trip down this weekend. If you guys are doing a hunt next weekend I should be able to attend. Would like to get familiar with the woods somewhat before the 5th.

Mossy, actually my training was for project management.;)As far as "managing" my fantasy football team I can't help it the auto draft screwed me[:'(]. I'll just have to stick it out this year and be happy with last place, there's not much I can do about it. OH, I almost forgot, Lefty are you going to make sure all those freakin' spiderwebs are going to be cleaned up the next time I come down it was a pain in the a$$ waving that stupid stick around:D:D. But I guess it could be a good thing, if you see someone dragging a buck out with one hand and waving a tree branch with the other you can be pretty sure it's me.:D:D

ok, so it seems like several of you guys need the hotel room, so heres an idea, we get 2 or 3 rooms right beside each other, and all split the cost, and then have a huge, and I mean huge F&#kin party after the hunt. Unless........im hunting with a bunch of lightweights who cant handle drinkin alcohol??? Bear I'll bring the Natural Lite!!:D:D

I went out but I didnt go to Monocacy. Mossy was afraid of the wind, plus he had said something about a family reunion/singles dance he had to attend...:D It was windy but the deer were moving, I saw 7 flat heads and a buddy of mine who is a new bow hunter shot a 4pt. He was in his stand 20 min on his first ever bow hunt and stuck one.....so that was prett exciting.

On a side note, any of you guys apply for a bear permit? I applied and am looking for someone else who applied, for a permit partner since you can have 2 people on 1 tag. Let me know if anyone is interested.

The weather is looking good for next Sat, so I think a hunt a Monocacy will definitly be in order.

Lefty,sounds like you had a decent day. Hell, at least you got out. I've been bitin' at the bit to get out but haven't had the time to head to Md and our season doesn't open for two weeks. We'll have to organize something towards the end of this week for Saturday but we're deffinately coming.

I applied for the bear permit. I have a hunting club up there that has 3300 acres, so I'm hoping to draw a tag, then just camp there all week. I have a feeling that all the towns up there will be a zoo with antis and media, so camping will allow me to stay away from that circus!!! If you pull a tag, let me know. I'll do likewise.

ok everybody,
Looks like Sat is supposed to be nice weather (for now) so lets plan on a hunt! Do you guys want to hunt morning or afternoon, If you guys want to hunt all day, I probably will only be there for one or the other. I would prefer to hunt evening, so I can hunt my woods in the a.m. Lets hear from everbody that wants to go, except for bearklr, I dont care personally if he takes whatever road he needs to, to go straight to Philly so he can roll around naked with all his butt buddy Eagles players, after his comments on my Ravens thread!! lol (just kidding Eric) YOU BASTARD!!!!! ( I dumped gas and dryer sheets on your tree anyway) :D
Oh and another thing....Lefty you window licking short bus rider, I had a he// of a time at my family reunion/singles dance!! I met your Father/Uncle he said your sister/wife is doing great, and he said shes the best kisser in your whole family!!!:D:D:D

Mossy, I would think most of the people that read these know we're just messing with each other but I'm sure there is a nubie here and there that takes us serious. We're gonna hunt all day on Saturday so you can count us in. I will probaly be there Saturday morning. The evening is still up in the air, Sat is my wifes birthday so we may have to go to our mom and dads house for our moms famous ground hog roast.:D But knowing me I will find a way to skip out and go hunting.

Oh by the way Mossy did your wife make it home ok last night? She left my house kinda late and I just wanted to make sure she got home safely. Sorry to have her out so late again....:D:D

If people cant figure out we are kidding around with each other than they got issues. Plus I think there are only 4 or 5 of us that ever read this thread. I doubt to many people are browsing through this one for some interesting reading material.

ok, so it sounds like were hunting morning then, thats ok with me, What time do we want to meet at monocacy? bear you and I will have to talk about what time you wanna meet at Mc'ds that morning, I think it got light around 6:15 last week so probably want to meet around 4, is that ok?

p.s. Lefty thank your wife for making me a member of the Mile High Club!!!:D:D I didnt know flight attendents could do so many things in an airplanes bathroom!!!:)

I havnt been there to confirm if the corn is down yet. I may swing over there on Thursday evening to hunt, if i do I will let you guys know. Below is the map Rick made with all the stand cordinates we picked out and our route we took when walking around the other Saturday. He did a great job it should help is finding where we need to go when the time comes.

Although I haven't personally been by there, my friend works 2 minutes up the road from there and says the corn is down. If he says it's down, I'm sure it's down.

I spoke with my Dad and Mossy and I think all three of us are going to sit in the stands we found during the scouting trip. That would put me in stand 4 and My Dad and Mossy back towards stands 5 and 6. I think we are going to meet Mossy around 4:00 at McDonalds and then head down from there. We are going to drive seperate in case Mossy doesn't hunt all day but I'm guessing we'll be at the parking area around 4:30 - 4:45. Do you know where you are going to sit yet? The funnell when we first walked in looked pretty good, were you thinking about that at all?

I always have my radio, we will just have to decide on a channel. I want to get one of those voice activated ear pieces, I may go look for one today. We can meet in the main parking lot and they drive to the other parking area so we dont have as far to walk.

I'm in, I will probably only hunt the morning, its too dang out out to be hunting in 80 deg. weather. Bear, if you still want to meet at 4 am at Mcd's then ok by me, I will call both you guys friday evening to confirm plans, I got extra radios if we need them, Lefty I got an extra voice activated ear bud if you want to try it out before you buy it. I like it because you can literally whisper (almost to the point that you cant hear yourself) and the mic picks it up, works really well with the motorola talkabout 250. So is it just us 4 then? Jon isn't coming?

I would like to join in. I will meet you guys down there at 5:00 Saturday, probably stay till 9 or 10. Just let me know where you want me to setup. I don't have a radio, cell phone will have to do.

Just a note, there are a lot of squirrel hunters out there. The last few times I have been down there I have heard several shots close by, one sounded closer than 30 yards! You might want to bring some orange in case one of these guys gets close to your stand.

I am looking at buying a radio. Any suggestions on features or range or brand to buy? See you all Saturday.

Sorry, Mossy, I probably won't be able to make it tomorrow. I have tenative plans to hunt with a friend on some private ground. We need to get some meat on the ground, fellas!! I'm starting to lose my mind!!!

I talked to my dad again about where he's hunting and he said if you wanted someone to head back in further with you then he would go. He always likes going in further than most hunters and finding a new spot to hunt. However, if you decide to hunt by the field with us then he said he'll just take one of the stands we already picked out. Just think about what you want to do and we'll figure it out Saturday morning or something.

There are some good spots way in the back, that I hunted last year with good success. Its a little bit of a hike and I havnt scouted back there yet this year but there is no better time to check things out than while you are hunting. It may be a little hairy getting back there in the dark though with all the folage, last time I was there it was pretty bare and land marks were easy to see.

sorry guys, (lefty and eric) I had to roll out on ya early Sat. I got sick , I found a tree near that scrape to hunt, and got ready to go up, and felt like I had to throw up. I dont know if it was something I ate at the buffet or what. I came home, and took a shower and crashed on the couch from 5 until 8:15. Havent felt right since. Lefty just hang on to my radio, we'll hook up and hunt again real soon, how did you guys make out? How far back did you go?

That Mystery meat will get you every time. The only good thing is you saw as many deer home sleeping as we did out in the woods...I guess it was just one of those days. I'm heading out there tonight see if I can find that 180 class buck feeding before the rain hits. Ahhhh...about the radio....I had to sell that thing on ebay to pay for a stroller my wife bought at a yard sale, hope you dont mind...:D:D We will get back out in the next week or 2 and I will have it for you then.

Boys, you all are missing out!! My buddies showed me a place to eat last year, not 5 minutes from the parking lot. The food is excellent and cheap. I'll show you all the next time we get together. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. The good thing about being a fat man, is that you know where to eat!!

It's been pretty quite on this topic, I was hoping to start seeing some posts about everyones first deer this season. I saw a few a couple of weeks ago, but nothing the last few times I've been out.

Anybody coming down this way on Saturday? I plan to get out in the morning, hopefully have some better luck this time!

Rick, I think Mossy and a few of his friends may be headed down but I don't have all the details. I'm staying up here this weekend because our season opens and we have some bruisers running around that I have scouted so hopefully I'll be able to tag one but good luck if you do get some time in the woods.;)
