Rick, yes that's where we are meeting. I knew lefty's post pointed to frederick but he stated in his post that we would be meeting where it said "furnace ford" on his map which is the same parking lot you are referring to.;) We've all been talking about this for so long I can't wait to actually see the area in person.:D;) See ya Sunday Rick.;)

I am just sitting here wondering, how much of a redneck convention this will be on Sunday..........I have a feeling that when all 12 of us guys get together its gonna be like a cross between a Hank Williams Jr concert and a gun show.......(nothin but 4 wheel drives and tobacco as far as the eye can see!!!) I couldnt think of a better way to spend a day!!!:)

Scouting day: Part deux,

Well fellas,
We had another good scouting day, at Monocacy, with Lefty,Bearklr and dad,sliceandice,Rick,and myself. Everbody was really cool to meet in person, I can't wait to meet the rest of the crew on the hunt day. I think we found spots for all of the hunters that will be going on the 5th. As far as being close to one another, I think the closest stands we picked might be 70 yards from one another. We saw alot of good signs, and I think we all agreed that this is gonna be a good spot, especially on the front side of the rut, when we'll be there. I know Lefty and I are talking about hunting one of these early Sat in Sept., so if you want to go with us and use that as a day to scout too, let us know. The season starts wed, so I am ready to get out and lay something down.

Oh, one last thing, lets get another list of people that are planning on going so we know if we got enough trees picked out. I am not sure but it seems like some of the people that initially posted that they were interested, have not been checking in lately. The list I have is

We were also talking about you hunting off of the ground and found a spot just for you that is set up pretty good for that. If this is still the case you should look into getting some camo material to set up in front of you because you would be along some good trails and you would need to block yourself so you could draw without being seen.

P.S. hey Mossy, how about those Ravens:D They really kicked some but didn't they[:'(]. I hope you watched the Eagles at 4:00 to see what a real football team looks like.:D:D:D

Definitly had fun kicking around in the woods with you guys yesterday. I think we are going to have a good time 11/5 and with the spots we have picked out I think we have a good chance of pulling some nice deer out of there. REDSKINS, REDSKINS, REDSKINS I hate the Eagles. Ever since I moved up here all I hear about is the Eagles and how they are going to the bowl every year but they always seem to choke. Got so tired of it I had to get satalite to watch them Skins. The Eagles have some of the most obnoxious fans [:@] I have ever seen. McNabb and TO are so stuck on themselfs. Art Monk would have put TO to shame. I'm surrounded by Eagle mania [:'(]. BTY I like Balt too, just not as much as the Skins.
Hey you guys are doing a subperb job of cordnating this and much thanks is going out your way. I might be able to do a Sept or early Oct hunt to check things out. The only Sat that would not work for me that I know of is The 2nd of Oct. BTY, my GPS and radios came today, I don't have a clue [&:]. I hate this high tec stuff. Maybe by then I will have them down whjere I can use them :D.

Have you all checked the weather forcast for the next 5 or 6 days? Rain. Rain pretty much from tonight through Monday. Unbelievable!! It didn't rain much in the past 2 months, but now with the opener being tomorrow, we get rain and lots of it!! If it's not downpouring, I think I'll be out for at least part of the day tomorrow. As far as Ray "I should be in Jail" Lewis, he's lucky he'll even be able to take the field by the time he plays the Eagles. His offense can't keep the ball more than 60 seconds before he's right back out there. But what do you expect, any team with Kyle Boller as their QB shouldn't even show up on game day:D. Oh wait I almost forgot Deion Sanders !!!![:'(] I don't think he'll be able to keep up with T.O. using his current walker, he may need to buy a new model, but hey at least I see he still has his punt returning skills...oh wait, no he doesn't:D:D:D. The sad thing is an ex-eagle is going to be their downfall next week when Duce takes over. Hey look on the bright side...they have pretty purple jerseys.:D:D

That's a good idea Lefty. It seems like there are alot of thickets over the hill behind the tree with alot of trails coming out into the field. As far as spooking, I may have to agree with you. Around here it seems like the deer come out into the fields in the evening to feed and I wouldn't want to blow my chances so I might hold off until evening. Maybe you could get into the funnel in the morning from our original parking area. You shouldn't spook anything, and if by some chance you do maybe they'll run over to the bryers and wait for you in the evening.:D:D:D If you hunt there you have to let me know how you make out, that spot looks great. Actually, my friend and I are planning to hunt there Saturday morning and see what happens.

8 hours til the season! I'm pumped! No sleep tonight. I took my climber down to some private land I have and set it up tonight. Saw alot of good sign including some beds not far from where I'm set up at. Should be able to catch them coming back in. Now I just gotta get in and see what happens.

had to work today 6 am -6 pm :(:(:( coulnt get out of it. I havent even been able to concentrate today at work, I shouldnt even be here!!!! I will be able to get out tomm evening. Ya'll prolly got all the big boys laid down by now, I can see it now, lefty, slice, and bearklr are all sitting around in a group celebrating with 3 160 class bucks in a pile, while poor mossy is stuck at work. Dont you guys feel bad?? you should!!! Bastards!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D Now it will probably rain the rest of the weekend when I can finally hunt. oh well.... I guess there's always next year:(

Yesterday was definitly slow. I saw 3 doe last night and 1 horned spike. Getting ready to head for this evenings hunt which will hopefully be a little better. Sorry I couldnt talk much last night mossy I was trying to be quite and not spook all the deer. I will call you tonight or tomorrow to work things out for hunting on saturday.

lefty you dont have to apologize, if ida known you were in your stand i wouldnt of even called. we'll work out this weekend, probably gonna rain anyhow, but if it aint too bad, im goin. I got stuck at work again today for 12 hours!!! so I wont get out tonite, but luckily I get tommorrow off so...I might get my hair, and my nails done.....er wait.....i mean i'll get to go hunting tommorrow:D

I can sympathize with you being stuck inside working instead of out in a tree where we belong!

Just to make matters worse, while I was wrapping things up at work today, I look out the office window over a small field below and see a nice 6 point buck slowly work his way across the field grazing at about 50 yards. I had my gear in the truck, but figured my co-workers might not want to see this big guy go down, just had to sit back and smile!

Hopefully I can get out soon as soon as work calms down a bit and the weather cooperates. Good luck to all you guys, hope to hear some stories soon!

Sorry guys, I've been away at training so I haven't been able to keep up. I'm not going to be able to make this Saturdays hunt because I'm on call and I have to stay pretty close. However, my Dad and I are deffinately coming down next Saturday if you guys are planning on hunting then. Don't worry Lefty, if I had a 160 class buck you would have deffinately known about it, you would of heard me yelling:D. I'll check this thread periodically this weekend to see how you guys make out on Sat.
