MD Hunt Final Preperation
#131
How have you guys been making out lately. Like I posted earlier I finally saw my first two deer of the season so hopefully the movement will pick up as soon as the temps start dropping.

oh and I forgot, did any of you hunt near where I picked out my tree, I left my bino's at the base of one of them, I'm hoping they will still be there on Sat when I go back, if not that was a costly mistake!!

Mossy,
I hunted off the tractor trail near the old truck (same place I hunted that Saturday morning we all went out). Looks like a nice funnel, but no deer seen while I was there.
Hope you find your bino's. I thought I was the only one who left stuff in the woods, but between you and Lefty I could probably outfit myself with a bunch of nice gear just by following you guys around
I won't be able to get out Saturday PM with you guys. Good luck, hope to see some pics posted soon!

Well so far no deer taken. On route 27 this weekend while headed home from night shift on Sat there was a huge doe with a broken neck near the water tank. Then Sunday another doe just 30 yards up from the one hit on Sat was on the road even more busted up. As of today she was still there. The one from Sat was taken I gather since she was a fresh car kill. I will be out hunting tomorow afternoon after an 18 hour stretch at work I need to get some rest so no AM hunting.

I was just reading through your posts and wondering where you guys are hunting? Don't worry about me taking your spots, just curious. I live in Catonsville and do most of my hunting around the Sykesville to Lisbon area. Fredrick is a bit of a hike at 4:30 in the morning.
I have seen a couple of spikes and fours and a bunch of does. Tried sneaking up on a doe today. Got within 45 yards and then stepped on a twig. Thought I was going to die standing still for that long before she trotted off. [&:] Had to leave the woods early this morning to pick up my daughter from daycare who had a fever. Good thing I have every Friday off till the end of the year!
Gotta bunch of vacation to burn up.
I have been passing up shots on does waiting for this bruiser buck in the area but I'm going to a new spot tomorrow. Shooting the first doe I see over 80lbs. I havent shot any of the smaller bucks because of the DNR combining regions B,C and D into one this year. Got a real nice 8 pointer last year so I want to save my buck tags for an 8 or better or until the end of the season. One region kinda stinks for me because I hunted both Howard and Caroll counties. I could tag 4 bucks per season if I wanted to. Oh well.
Good luck guys.

G2,
were hunting Monocacy public land, near Frederick in Buckeystown. I live in Carroll Co. and yes its quite a hike early in the morning (about an hour with no traffic). We are using this place as kind of a group area for huntingnet members, we have a date of Nov 5th where all of us (about 12) are getting together and hunting, if you would like to join us we'd love to have you. If you want to hook up with me and ride up I can meet you, I live in Taneytown. Let me know

Thank you for the invite mossy. Monocacy is about an hour from me also. Since I have never been there to scout any areas, I will have to decline the offer. I don't want to be walking around there blind. Maybe I can catch you with you guys next year.

Sorry I haven't been here for a while guys but everything has been hectic here. I just got a promotion so I have absolutely no time to do anything and to make things more crazy my wife has decided she wants to move so we have been meeting with alot of people to list our house, get loans and look at new houses. I just wish I could sit in my treestand and not worry about a thing.
As far as the Nov. 5th hunt is concerned I won't be able to make it because of this new position however I will be coming down on the 6th to hunt all day again if any of you guys are planning on hunting then. Mossy, I'll call you about the elk hunt next year to discuss some things with you as soon as I find time. Good luck to everyone.
P.S. Lefty, you think you have it rough when your wife wants a kid and goes out and buys cribs and car seats. He//, when my wife wants another kid she puts our house up for sale !!!
