Default Tired of Seeing Orange

Is it just me or is anyone else tired of the endless shotgun drives. I really wish it was like years ago. January winded down with a few die hard bowhunters hanging on to what was left of the season. The land behind my house was pushed hard today. These big clubs are relentless! Well, at least for my zone, today ends all gun hunting till next year! Thank God!

I hear ya. Thats one of the reasons I do very little hunting anymore in NJ. The drives have gotten completly outta hand. Im not against say 4 or 5 guys doing a little push to get the deer moving but these clubs line up and do their re-e nactment of Picketts Charge through every plot of land they can. I know its a tradition and all, but it might be time for F&G to think about stepping in and putting some kinda control on whats going on. If that means banning drives all together,,,,, so be it. My 2 cents.

Run em over with the superduty!!

Not many drivers up North mid. There used to be a big club in the area that would push any woods they could. But that was years ago. My cousins live in Whiting and they say it is the same down there. It's a shame the slaughter goes on for so long. We get to hunt till Feb 14th in my zone. I have been holding out for buck since after buck season..but no luck yet.

How's the truck doin?

Why does Jersey continue with the January shotgun season which absolutely destroys any chance of building a quality buck herd the following season while at the same time pressuring the remaining deer during times of weather stress/etc.

Our ZOne 2 has seen a marked decrease in quality ever since we went to a weekly Jan shotgun season. Everyone complains about lack of quality but the January shotgun season sure does not help.

I emailed the state but they are sticking to their guns of "providing more hunter hours" blah, blah, "reducing does", blah, blah.

Look at the successful quality states for deer and not one has an endless shotgun season.

End the Jan slaughter please!!

If you really want too have the January seasons changed then you need better representaion on the NJ Federation of Sportsmans Clubs. Also, let your voice be heard by telling state officials that you dis approve of these seasons. I have been writing letters for 2 years now regarding this issue.

The "unlimited antlerless" has gone too far and is really begining to effect the overall herd. There are many ways to shorten the seasons and still have similar results without the additonal pressure on the deer. There are many ways that the state could issue additonal doe tagss and generate additional revenue as well similar to WI and VA.

MD is pretty bad for the pumpkin crowd. First, there's two, early 3 day MZ seasons in late October-just as the early rut is starting. Then there's an early shotgun day--supposed to be for kids under 16--right on the peak day of the rut. Then there's the two week shotgun season, followed a week later by two weeks of muzzleloader season, followed another week later by two more days of shotguns. After all that, the deer that are left are extreemly skittish, nocturnal and very hard to hunt with a bow.
