I saw Gary Alt in a lecture years ago when he was the "bear expert extraordinaire" of PA. He said then that PA had the biggest bears of any state in the U.S. He was using bodyweight as the basis for that judgement when he made the statement. I've also seen that in print a number of times. Says a lot for Bear hunting in PA!

It's truly a shame that an animal of this calibre should die by an illegal act. Sickening! [:@]I for one wish I had the change to throw the book at this guy. It's acts like this that give hunters a bad rep.

I agree that this fella (not a hunter) should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! If I'm not mistaken, the biggest bear ever shot in PA. was killed out of season by a father/son team and taken south where they tried to get it checked and were caught. It now resides as a full body mount in the Cabella's store in Hamburg, PA. That bear was shot about 20 miles from my house! I've seen some dandies here in my area!
