Well, 2 of us hunted northern Zone 3 saturday. No sightings at all. Kinda bummed its all over, but what can you do??. I have obligations that will keep me out of Muzzy season, so thats it for me.
Good luck to all you muzzy guys.
Sluggunner,
I am surprised you didn't see more in the Northfield area. I see alot of deer while driving up to Vernon, VT to fish the CT river. Off course, most are at night.

Got out for a few hours Saturday morning in Zone 10 with my younger brother. First stand was along a swamp edge in behind an apple orchard. Walking in we jumped 2 that sounded like 4 wheelers shattering glass as they ran through the swamp that was iced over. Didn't see anything else so we packed it up and we hit another spot behind a corn field, as I was dropping my brother off before heading to my spot 10 yards in the woods 3 does stand up. My brother still had the lock on his gun because we had just got out of the truck, with the deer just staring at him .. and me whispering "shoot them shoot them shoot them" he was a little club fingered and couldn't get the lock off his gun fast enough or find the shells in his pockets ... after what seemed like 10 minutes but was probably less than a minute they bounded off. I just laughed and laughed at him! So he slowly starts heading off after them I headed to my spot and less than 10 minutes later a buck I think my brother pushed, ran along the top of a ridge about 100 yards out. I never had a clean shot and he didn't respond to my grunts and since I have missed deer each of the last 2 weeks I didn't take a low percentage shot. My brother had the the same deal with the 3 does .. he never got a clean shot. We were done by 11 due to obligations but we were into deer all morning.
Hoping to get 1 with the smokepole in the next week or 2.

Went out yesterday with the muzzleloader and finaly saw some deer! I jumped two deep in the swamp on my way in and after sitting for an hour or so I had two go flying by me like there tails were on fire. I took the shot at the lead doe and knocked her over at around 70 yds. Dressed out at 127lbs and is going to look real fine in the freezer. Might get out again this weekend to try and fill the buck tag.
