The MD DNR has announced that they want a limited bear hunt in western MD.
This would be the first bear season in MD since 1953. They want a season in Sept/Oct , 04. The details will be worked out the next several months.
The stinkin' treehuggers in this state will oppose this any way they can and probably file a lawsuit.
I cant wait to apply for the permit lottery.

Maybe you can convince the anti' s to pick up the trash the bears spread around, and while they' re at it; pay into a fund to reimburse victims of animal caused damage (be it personal, property, pets etc). I mean hurricane & tornado victims get $ to put ther lives back together.....and aren' t bears & other animals a force of nature?
Like everything else, once you put a dollar value on a problem and show the real costs, the cheapest & most effective solution becomes pretty darn popular.

They' ve been proposing a bear season for years, but with spendening as the governor, we had no chance. Now with Governor Erlich, he' ll sign the bill. Already the anti' s are crying about it. The commitee to study the bear problem (appointed by the old governor) has the chairman of the Humane Society and the president of the Fund for Animals as board members!
Maybe we can get this one passed.

i went to school in western maryland. bear sightings were fairly common. it doesn' t make any sence why md wouldn' t have a hunting season considering both pa and wv do and md is only a strip of land between the two.
