I expect to have a great week.
1.The deer hunters are way down in numbers since 1980.
2. The census of PA federal house of representatives members has been cut in half since 1930, meaning the relative population is way down. Less spectators on the road.
3. Many hunters have turned into fatsos, so the hunting will be down after the first day.
4. Won't hunt with one resident hunter, so I won't listen to one complaint about the meager deer herd and the loss of important hunting terrain.
Nothing like being positive about all the surrounding negative vibes.

I don't have as big a list as you. I just love being in the woods and in camp with my buddies. We saw a few bruisers that survived last season so there's always a chance for one of us to tag a real beast. Oh yeah, and a week off from work for rifle!!!!
Also looking forward to the Saturday bear. Haven't had a bear camp in 10 years. Nobody could take the time off.

I always look forward to deer season. I love archery and being out early in the year is great. Simply enjoyable. But I don't get real excited until about Halloween when the big boys start moving. That's when you have the best chance to harvest a mature buck.

The hunters shot most of the doe in the last 6 yrs and thinned the herd dramatically. Last yr in flintlock I saw more bucks than I ever did in the late season. I missed a nice 9 point and eneded up killin a small 4. The cam trail pics my brother took so far this year there are some nice bucks and quite a few shootable ones in the area I hunt.

I have not hunted archery for 25 years, so I don't get too excited until the last two weeks of November.
There is probably more deer in my area then what I know about, but seeing deer this summer has been really spotty.
Even my dentist was telling me about the 10 point that he saw in the state game lands last week while he was trying to train his bird dog.
I would rather hunt pheasants and rabbits and grouse then hunt deer.
Deer season usually involves putting up with a bunch of idiot hunters who only hunts a couple of days per a year. That gets out old rusty and shoots a million shots at my rifle range and maybe gets one or two shots a year at an actual deer. Most times they are hung over and are not safe for being out in the woods in the first place.
When I small game hunt, there are days where I might see one or two or three hunters in 8 hours of hunting and I can shoot my limit - if I am lucky and see that amount of game and go home.
Deer season, when the gun goes bang, the work is just starting.

Mr. Deer Hunter- You have an interesting attitude...
Why did you post that on this thread????
Thankfully my father didn't share your passion for deer hunting while we spent 28 years together hunting deer in this great state of ours.

I'm looking forward to this season because I started by 13 year old niece shooting this summer and as a result she took the hunter safety course and bought her first hunting license. Before ,she was a nature lover that didn't want to kill anything, but now she wants to shoot a deer. It won't be easy getting her a shot, but we'll do whatever we can to make sure she enjoys the experience. I won't be carrying a weapon when I hunt with her, but I've shot enough deer in my lifetime so that it really doesn't matter.

I'm excited for this season. I was not home in order to get a doe license (due to working in colorado all summer).... SO I'll be focusing only on Bucks, and I've seen a few nice ones around some of our properties. The numbers seem a little higher this year than I've seen in the last five years. Over-all, I'm expecting a great year! Good luck everyone!
