I watched it through the binocs for an hour and prayed that the wind would keep steady blowing from him to me. Eventually put 9 points on his head with about a 17 inch spread. 30 minutes before last shooting time, he stood up, stretched and began feeding on green brier and working his way towards me. At 60 yards, he grew suspicious of something out the ridge from us and snuck into thick hemlock and out of sight. Within a minute or two, I could hear the sound of an ATV headed my way. Turned out to be a jerk from the camp next door that has been told a dozen times to walk in only and keep off the property with ATVs.

Morons. Stinking morons. Starting out 2010 will be a great pleasure this afternoon because 2009 rates as about the very worst season I've ever had.

ATV problem is getting worst here in clinton county,pa also.i am on the ATV committee also.we are trying to connect the whiskey spring trail so the ATV can go to virginia.
i got a real sour taste when i saw and got complaints of hunters riding down trails etc during hunting season.many camps are pissed, it ruined their hunting.............
these jerks are going to ruin what we are working so hard to get in affect with dcnr.they are difficult to catch cause they wear camo and ski masks.1 even punched the camera out of hand of landowner while she took his picture.
poachers are now using the ATV to scoot into privateland with rechargeable spotlights, shoot a doe, throw it on back and off they go on privateland .this is done when privateland owners are not at camp.
the DISABLED atv areas i can live with even tho it has ruined my hunting in that area also.i will hunt eleswhere of SFL..........i believe the disabled should have area to use ATV..
this year i saw MORE atv on trailer coming to clinton county than i ever saw in my life.that is good for us locally on business but we dont want them DISTURBING hunting running up and down trails.
i never agreed to this,i approved of them during the off season.i did not agree to the designated areas also but i can live with it as it does give a guy that is sick a chance to hunt..............
i just cant take seeing ATV in woods during archery/rifle season disturbing everything around them.
I AM TOTALLY AGAINST THEM IN HUNTING SEASON other than the disabled area ..............
it never ends how some can ruin what could be a good thing.they just have to get that deer meat at any cost..........

I'm thinking only ATV besides handicapped is for getting them out from the way back. I'll tell you I can't drag em' out the way I used to do it. I can get inot the stands but of i score and i am by myself I am in big trouble. I like hunting alone.

Took the muzzy out saturday. When I called a landowner near my dads house (in 2D) to ask permission to do a drive, she granted us permission but called back 5 minutes later and said get out here now, she had 22 deer around the house. By the time we got set up for the drive, they had gone another way. We did two one on one short drives and found enough sign to more than support her story but none went the way we wanted.

A friend called and asked if I could direct a friend of his to a spot in 2B. He wanted to try filming a muzzy hunt. They went to the spot mid day without equipment to check it out and walked right into a fair size bunch the first 10 minutes. They were headed back there this morning. BTW, this is public ground open to anyone but if tracks are an indication, it's gone unhunted since the last big snow.

I got out again yesterday and saw a sublegal buck, a shed buck and arrowed a doe. The mature buck that beds near one of my spots is still around according to the landowner. He's mine next season!

One more 2B tag and then the coyotes are in trouble.........

I saw a 6 point sublegal buck on Monday. He was digging in the snow on the lawn of the Community College during daylight.

Sounds like pretty much everybody put meat in the freezer and/or took decent to good bucks, or passed on shootable bucks or missed nice bucks. Many of the stories that folks told about their hunts in PA didnt sound much different from what was going on in southeastern Illinois in terms of the numbers of deer seen and the size and number of bucks seen or killed. Ditto for what I heard from my friends that hunt public ground here in southwest Ohio.

Sometimes its kind of hard to reconcile what most of you guys say about deer hunting in Pennsylvania in offseason talk versus how you actually end up report doing during the season:)

But, that's why I remain a big fan of the PA deer threads.

dark moon. First thaw in two weeks and the sun's s'posed to be out well into this afternoon. If I didnt have a darn doctors appointment I'd be parking my butt on a south facing slope today!

T'aint really most Lanse. The all PA site has a lot different tone. A lot of guys that've been banned over there for their constant "whine" festivals have made their way here instead. The all PA site tells a much different story.

Take it from a guy who hunts both Illinois and PA, a lot! Both states have a lot to offer the whitetail deer hunter. I wont go as far as to say I'd travel here if I lived in Illinois LOL but both states offer some great deer hunting. Oh and if you pick up a recent copy of Illinois Outdoor news, you'll find that PA doesn't have the market cornered on the "we killed too many deer" mentality:violin:

many ,many hunters never saw deer in WMU2G.LANSE,it depends on where you hunt and if you are on PRIVATELAND.publicland in clinton, cameron, sou potter WMU2G is not good on numbers of deer.around 2dpsm would be a good guess and i may be high on that number.
places like 2b etc, yes they still have deer because of the PRIVATELAND.publicland hunting deer now is like hunting for bear.we killed over 200 bear in clinton county ,so that would give you good estimate of what is.the example is not the count harvested but is good example of way things are here........

bob, respectfully but the HPA forum is only for people who back the PGC and DCNR.....if you comment any other way you are banned.they have people who will get you to say something that will get you banned.they let these WANNABEES push it until it gets to pint they have SOME reason to ban you.......
you have to wonder why hundreds of hunters have been banned from HPA forum and those same hunters are over here and not 1 that i know of is BANNED on hunting net forum.......
look how they called silinskys wife of the USP very bad names and the ones that did it were never banned, they are still there.

its wonder they were never sued for that...........that is why i feel HUNTINGNET is best forum and has best people .as you said, a lot were banned on HPA that are here and are best i have talked to in all forums i have been on........
you should see people on archery forum i am on now that ONLY HUNT FAWNS CAUSE THEY TASTE GOOD......i could not believe that this world would have such hunters in woods and i told them what i thought of them.
you know what they said, HEY GUYS THATS ONE OF THOSE FROM HUNTINGNET FORUM THAT BELIEVE THAT HUNTING IS SPORT AND SHOOT BUCKS...........he even called me preacher sproul,haha..........
