I think I sent you pics of it back when I mounted it. The years sure do slip by don't they?

Yes they sure do! The memory that was like a steel trap has become more like a steel sieve :nonono2:

Went out with the flintlock for the first time today in about 27 years. Got to the spot, went to load up, realized I forgot the round balls. That was a short trip.

My buddy did the same. He forgot his maxi-balls at home and had to go back and get them.

Time before last, he some how broke the end off his ramrod. lol.

The balls are right with the gun now. Thats not happening again

When the season approaches, I premeasure about 4 charges and place them in small prescription bottles. Then I have another bottle that I put 4 projectiles in, along with my touch-hole pick. Then the only other thing I need is my pan charger. These items stay in my pack until the season ends.

After 27 years, I was lucky to find my rifle yet alone the touch hole pick. Thats why they make paper clips.

Well, the pick is an accessory, provided you kill on the first shot.

Trespassing sonsabeeches. Hunted the last day of the 2009 season on a friends property. Was halfway to my stand, and spied a deer laying about a hundred yards uphill from me. Luckily, when I spotted the flick of an ear, I was near a big oak that I used for cover and the deer never knew I was there. I watched it through the binocs for an hour and prayed that the wind would keep steady blowing from him to me. Eventually put 9 points on his head with about a 17 inch spread. 30 minutes before last shooting time, he stood up, stretched and began feeding on green brier and working his way towards me. At 60 yards, he grew suspicious of something out the ridge from us and snuck into thick hemlock and out of sight. Within a minute or two, I could hear the sound of an ATV headed my way. Turned out to be a jerk from the camp next door that has been told a dozen times to walk in only and keep off the property with ATVs.

Morons. Stinking morons. Starting out 2010 will be a great pleasure this afternoon because 2009 rates as about the very worst season I've ever had.

Just got back from flintlock hunting all week. I beleive the bucks have dropped their horns after and some before regular gun season. The area we hunt did not have alargrge buck kill as usual, which makes no sense in my next comments. Had lots of bucks come by, could make out the holes where horns used t be......... I hunted 5 full days and saw on 2 different areas in 2D approximately 100 deer. Again, we have taken control of our hunting areas (1000 acres)w/ AR long before it was enact6ed, purging sub par deer, food plots, posting and patroling during season. I beleive we make a difference in DD. Ended up taking 2 doe off a farmer friends mountain fields as he wanted to knock down his deer herd. Longest was a 90 yards ranged shot and she dropped right there. I was lucky enough to get to hunt in the snow about 12" and it was beautful beautiful being in squalls, starting a litlle fire foir hot tea back on the mountain and just enjoying 5 days of hunting all alone! saw lot's of Yote tracks and will be back for them in February Mosquito Creek hunt. All in all a great relaxing week.
