Alright boys and girls, to quote an old 80s movie.. " must be getting close, i' m gettin a hard on!!"
One month until opening day! Im heading out tomorrow for the 1st walk about to scout out the area' s, state stands for bee hives etc. Got 2 cans of bug spray and even though it' ll be warm and muggy, wearing plenty on clothes. Just have to take it slow. Next week i' ll be sitting out early watching the sunrise and hopefully deer!
Been shooting 30 - 40 arrows every other day from all different distances and angles on the new deer decoy and hitting the vitals 98% of the time with no problem. Won' t be that easy im sure when Joe or Jane whitetail comes by, but I cant wait for the chance.
Lets get the scouting reports going all the way to opening day! Its right around the corner now!![:-]

I used ' No Stinkin Bugs' on the face mask and gloves today, but I was suprised how few skeeters there were. I swear 10x less than last year! Did have a couple of flies follow me around, but i spent over 2 hours in the woods today and not 1 bite! Thats NEVER happened before.
Saw some deer too and good sign. Night and day compared to last year. That and the farmer at the leased farm did get late bean in so it will be available opening day! [:-] I' ll fix the stand up next week and do some scouting there.
The blood is pumping now,,, one month to go and much more scouting to be done!

I was out scouting today also for a couple of hours. No bugs at all and I didn' t even spray myself. I found me a spot to put a stand for opening day. Lotsa tracks near a corn field and one set in partiular is HUGE. I hope I see the deer that made ' em. I think I' m gonna put up a ladder stand tomorrow or Monday and not go back until opening day in the afternoon. The spot is an island of trees in the middle of a corn field. I can get there quietly by walking a tractor path to a narrow break in the middle of the corn field that leads to the trees. There is also a large patch of grass that is wet where the farmer couldn' t plant and the tracks follow the edge of the corn around the grass and right past the group of trees. I just hope the corn isn' t picked by then. It' s pretty tall now with full ears. One hope is they move to the soy bean field next to the corn after it' s picked. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I have never used a decoy before. Has anyone used a decoy and what has your experiance been with one? I would think that they would work all season not just during the rut. I' m going to try it this year.

Bow-4-It, What kind of decoy are you going to get? I' ve been shopping around some myself! Too a look at a few over at the Baltimore Bass Pro...one (Carry-Lite I think) looked real good!
