Hey Scott, don' t forget, Jersey' s season starts a month earlier this year down South, so it' s the same weekend as De. Where are you going to spend the opener?

Yeah, I' m definitely counting it down. Already decided on an opening day stand, gonna put a couple of tacks up this weekend so I can find the tree, then stay out until the opener. Easy to do since I hunt the same tree every opener I' ve ever hunted DE, LOL. Can' t wait. I thought about it the other day and couldn' t believe it' s only 3 months and change.

NJ,

Looks like you stand hangers will get an early start in some more of the SJ Zones if Fish and Game sticks to the Tentative Seasons. Sept 6th I believe. DE will start 9/1 (Labor Day) so it wont be a conflict. Although I think I will be out of town the weekend of the 6th. [:' (] My old man will be out there though. I' ll tell him to keep an eye out for you. He shot his 3rd Turkey of the year on the last day of week E by the way..... ;)

75 Days and Counting..... :D

This wet weather has been unbelieveable. All the rainy weekends have made it tough to get any practice in and I havent been able to get down to farm I sub lease to repair my deerstand and scout for temporary stand locations. The woods is probably still a lake anyway[:' (]

Where are the 2003-04 Regs?!?! I usually get my new liscence the 1st weekend after July 1st. Was wondering if they are still doing the $10 Buck tag thing and if there were going to be any season changes. DNREC had then Regs out by now last year.

Anyone else counting the days or is everyone concentrating on fishing or other outdoor activities????

Next update... the 50 Day mark..... ;)

I' m definately counting the days. I' m laid off from my job at GM (Saturn Plant) atleast until December, so I will have plenty of time to hunt. My Dad and I are going to Canada fishing Sept. 19th thru Oct. 5th. We' ve been going for 7 years. I' ve been shooting the bow every day the last week, inbetween the rain storms [:@] Man, the woods and fields are flooded down here in Clayton. It' s tough to get out and scout now. It' s gonna get hot next week so hopefully it will dry up quickly and we' ll be able to get out into the woods.

Im not counting down yet, Ive been busy fishing. :D

I will say though, Ive seen more deer in the fields this year than at this time last year. Right down the road from me we saw 5 Deer, 3 were Bucks with there Antlers growing and covered in velvet. One looked to be a dandy, but its all on private land. it was nice to see them, wish I had my camera.
Ive seen them at just about anytime during the day, no rhyme or reason. when their hungry they eat when their tired they go bed down. :D:D

RE: Countdown to the DE Bow Season

OK. Im a day late from when I said I' d update this, but anyhow, we are now a mere 49 days until the DE Archery Deer Season!!![:-]

The weather has dried out quite a bit, but I still have been unable to get down and repair the old deer stand. I' m hoping to that as well as begin scouting the 1st weekend in August. I did receive a call from the guy I sub lease my stand from and he informed me that the field on our farm is still in weeds[:' (] Said it was too wet for the farmer to get the beans planted. Asked if I was pissed and I said ' not really' . The farms around our land are in crop and if it gets overgrown good, I' m thinking the deer might use our farm as a bedding area;) With no food in the field, baiting may actually work this year. In past years, the only thing that fed infront of my stands were squirrels and ducks. I hope it works out.

Besides from that, I' ve been practicing with the Bow every weekend and going to put the order into cabelas for all the toys and supplies I want for the upcoming season. :)

What have you all been up to?

Next update.. the 1 month mark!!:D

Come on 9/1!!
