But, if archers or muzzle loader hunters still have a buck tag and desire to take a legal antlered deer, should they have the opportunity, they would need the special archery and/or muzzle loader permit (what used to be a stamp and is now a special addition to their license) and be restricted to a legal flintlock or bow and arrows (including the crossbow) as defined in the digest
So are you saying an archer using a bow or x-bow in the extended season in 2b, 5C and 5D doesn't need an antlerless permit as long as he or she only harvests antlerless deer?

The special archery and muzzle loader stamps are needed by anyone hunting during any of the special archery, muzzle loading or flintlock seasons though regardless of where they are hunting within the state.
BTB,

Go to page 9 of the Digest and see if you can find the dates for the "special " archery and ML seasons. I couldn't find any special ML or archery seasons.

You are the master of minutia! No page 9 does not refer to a "special" season. However, RSB named it correctly the first time.....

extended period of the special regulations area hunting seasons
Thats not the same as a "special" season. It's rather apparent that your goal here was to attempt to trip someone up with semantics. Your question was answered correctly the first time.

Yes a hunter can use any legal bow, crossbow or muzzle loading firearm during the statewide concurrent or extended period of the special regulations area hunting seasons and no special stamps are needed during that time period.

The special archery and muzzle loader stamps are needed by anyone hunting during any of the special archery, muzzle loading or flintlock seasons though regardless of where they are hunting within the state.
That was RSB's first post and he referred to special archery and ML seasons that are don't exist!1

While it may not be called special on page 9, the context of what was posted was correct.

Here's Webster definition of the word special

  • Main Entry: 1spe·cial
  • Pronunciation: \ˈspe-shəl\
  • Function: adjective
  • Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French or Latin; Anglo-French especial, from Latin specialis individual, particular, from species species
  • Date: 13th century
1 : distinguished by some unusual quality; especially : being in some way superior <our special blend>
2 : held in particular esteem <a special friend>
3 a : readily distinguishable from others of the same category : unique <they set it apart as a special day of thanksgiving> b : of, relating to, or constituting a species : specific
4 : being other than the usual : additional, extra
5 : designed for a particular purpose or occasion
both 1 and 5 apply in the context of what was posted.

The question was answered. Do you have a point?

You get an F for today. Now go and take Websters definition and read over and over and don't come back till you understand. We will allow you to take a break for deer season if you haven't comprehended it by then.

The definitions relating to the game laws are not found in Webster's ,they are found in the PA code. now if you really believe you know what you are talking about , please cite the sections of the PA code that refers to special ML and archery seasons!!!
