Now I am an extremist with some sort of anti-hunting agenda??? Uh, nope, just a guy whose perspective on things ins't defined entirely by the need to hang a big rack on the wall every year based on a quick run to the local WMU. Don't you get tired of conjuring up conspiracy theories every time somebody offers a perspective that you don't like.

How's this for a conspiracy theory. You are one of those wacky earthfirsters who want to see animals take over the planet. So, your desired goal is 200 DSM, with herds stretching as far as the eye can see grazing on the overgrown remnants of the road system. There will be no more agriculture since people don't have the right to complain about crop damage from deer. The few remaining humans will be required to ride bikes at speeds no greater than 10mph to avoid bike/deer collisions to make sure that deer on the paths are in no way viewed as a nuisance or danger. As the high priest of the deer earth cult, you alone will be afforded the privilege of harvesting one huge buck a year. If you are able to do it quickly and with little effort then it means that the God's smile upon the earth. If it takes any time or challenge then that means that the evil PGC God's have cursed the earth and the end is near

Umm, yeah Lanse, Id say that to be an adequately accurate depiction if we are to go by your standards.

No less accurate than the 6 people on the planet who say pgc is doing a great job. lmao.

You coulda used a pic with tons of deer to make your jab. You didnt. Just shows how extreme your views actually are. I also guess, from your picture a deer...One deer....knowing nothing at all about anything other than what we see in the picture... We are supposed to conclude automatically that area is overpopulated based on that alone??? People like you are a big problem today. Extremists seeing a bud nipped off a branch will tell you the world is ending. Seeing a deer alongside the road and they'll say we have far far too many.

I guess when not one deer can be seen while actually looking for one....And not one deer steps on a road anywhere.....and not one bud gets touched on a sapling..THEN we'll be at the right herd level according to Lanse & others who think alike such as audubon. lol.

"Now I am an extremist with some sort of anti-hunting agenda???"
Perhaps youd like to point out where i said that? You most certainly ARE extreme in your views but I never said a word about you being an antihunter. Not very good comprehension on your part lanse. I suggest you reread and take it exactly as stated. I said what I said and there was no underlying suggestion. I even pointed out where many of our "problem causing extremists" say they ARE hunters, though perhaps a bit less than avid... Better have your prescription checked.

" Don't you get tired of conjuring up conspiracy theories every time somebody offers a perspective that you don't like."
Never conjured up anything and dont intend to start now. I didnt ACCUSE you of anything just stated the sentiment is there, and it clearly is. Just telling it like it is. Dont you ever tire of being the defender of wildflowers & other "necessities"? lmao. And its not that i "dont like" your input. Its just that its 100% irrational for someone like you to speak as you are for the sole purpose of trouble making and knowing very little about the topic in the first place. So i give you all the consideration the situation warrants. Dont like it? I believe you have a forum for "your area". See if they embrace your ideals. lmao.

I don't know that it will be too effective since folks who sound surprisingly like you wanted a watered down reduction plan so as to not cut into their easy big buck pickings. So, when the numbers don't drop like they should and pretty dramatic measures are then required that cause a very sharp (but still needed) reduction, the same people are gonna be screaming as loud as you are in PA. I consider this forum a practice for eventually having to deal with them.

Sproulman: Well, my part of the country has not yet been flooded with disabled folks from New Jersey who are buying up all the land and deer camps, but we get our share of outsiders coming in. We have several people from Georgia who came into the area after the deer numbers got really high and bought land. And the out-of-state folks coming in to lease ground is really just starting to get rolling. I think that lots of those folks are gonna be lots less enthusiatic about doing that once the deer population starts dropping to the point that filling ones tag actually becomes a challenge.

I am now experimenting with a New Age Environmentalist philosophy that seeks a 30 percent herd reduction through the power of free love.
i only say what i see.also i am not singling out new jersey. i used to work there also and lived near newark,nj.they see deal in land/camp vrs what it cost to own land/camp in nj.also its hard to find publicland in nj that you can use high powered rifle vrs pa.
then allowing them to use a ATV for being DISABLED here in pa. they got it real nice.
i expected to see older people like us that may need a DISABLED ATV not young guys around 45 sitting in trees all day that are disabled

Got a buddy who's left leg is nerve dead from mid thigh down and he was denied. Don't know the exact criteria for that permit but it aint easy to get. Those guys you're seeing Sproul are either BS'ing about having the permit or they really scammed someone to get it.

I used to put on a 3D shoot for PA Sportsemn for the disabled at Conemaugh lake and know of several hunters from that organization that had disabled rermits to hunt from vehicles and every one of them had some paralysis or were amputees.

Sproul, pm me with where you seen 'em on the ATV's. I emailed DCNR after I talked to Wasserman(spelling?) about a spot just north of Renovo last year. They said the guys had permits, but I didnt think that area was for disabled. I know one spot posted open for disabled, thats it. I didnt know they could go anywhere they wanted.

Disabled can go anywhere they have permission on private and on designated roads and trails on public ground. Those are few and far between and some even have designated parking spots.

BOB, THEY GO TO LOCAL district 10 DCNR OFFICE, THEY GIVE THEM A PERMIT AND A LICENSE PLATE for atv.they also have to leave a permit in window of their truck.they also tell the dcnr where they would like to go,not dcnr telling them where to go.then they get approved to use that trail maybe.i guess they are expanding the trails to use.
i was shocked to see it.i had to check it out.all legal ........
