Man, you're post hit so many nails on the head and really got me fired up. Now I have to vent about all this "Earth Day" (Myth Day)garbage all over the media today. These left wing radicals that conspired this global warming and "going green" BS are the same pot head "naturalist" wackos that condone living with wild bears (until they decide it's chow time), not cutting down trees (do they know ANYTHING about a healthy forest?), and even involved in the HR fiasco here in PA. I say we put them all on a boat to Kodiak Island to live with the bears. The radio station was ranting about not using paper towels, as if once a tree is utilized it's gone forever...and the idiot populace buys into it like a bunch of brainwashed clones, the teachers spread the propaganda in our public schools and universities. So celebrate Earth Day like a real citizen of the natural world who participates, not observes.. .Go fishing and keep a couple for the frying pan. It's okay.I promise. (Sorry, but I've een holding that in all morning.)[:@]

More decisions from a bunch of sidewalk sissies that dont even hunt, except a few of them that hunt on private managed land a couple hours a year.I couldnt support these idiots for skunk urine collectors. While the state officials stuff their pockets full of money, lie to the public, many applaud the herd distruction for the sake of a selfish hope to bag a 200 score midwest trophy. NOT! I just wonder how many of the Pa hunters ever hunted anywhere else and seen whats going on ?? The further reduction of does in 5C is ridiculous. The only place the deer herd is to high is valley forge park. And their going to sharpshoot them this winter at a cost of a million dollars and bury the meat The last time I seen1 deer in my 5c township was last november at a non hunters feeder. How can any one support these power monger bafoons.Highway kills in 5c have dropped drastically the past 5 years. I couldnt find one crossing the road if I wanted to hit it.All theses winers wimpering there aint no food for more deer. Well supply it or stop complaing. And for the winers they yell there aint no deer, Dont shoot any for a couple of years. Post your land and protect the deer for several years. We all should demand the firing of the commissioners and demand the right of all licensed hunters to vote for individuals. Rendell knows nothing about hunting, heck he is pushing for a gun ban. He dont care about deer except for the ones that pull Santa clauses sleigh bring him all his government kickback cash. Why dont we just wave the white flag and hand everything over to the United Nations and the globalist they cant do any worse. After all the pa commission already has taken some of the globalist wackos opinions on the global animal enviromental control methods.
Apparently you've never left the confines of urban southern pa.i'd like to know how you would go about feeding the insane deer densities in some of these remote and vast areas of the state. That's simply impossible. It couldn't be done logistically and who would fund it?

You constantly brag about managing an overwinter deer density at close to 400 dpsm. How poor and unskilled does a hunter have to be to require those assinine deer densities?
I have hunted all over Pa many years ago. More recently Texas Mexico, Ok., Ill., Mo.,Kansas, Iowa alabama, Miss.,South Carolina, Virginia, WV, Maine. I am sure you are familiar with WV and its very rough terrain. They put food plots in there all over the place. Aint upsetting me if you enjoy making fun of me. I take 2 deer a yearall by myself in a wheell chair. crawl to the down deerand lay on my belly to field dress it. One thing I aint is a sponge. I help Fatten up many deer a year for the neighbors, who also spend their last dime to feed the herd. severaldays a year the neighbors and I open our property up to the handicap to take deer. We lodge them, feed them and pay for the butcher fee. At least the hillbillies are giving back and dont consider themselves heros just because they bought a huntin license and think the State owes them a freebie. This whole deer thing is not about us anyway it is about the future and youth, I just dont understand why so many are against planting food on their land for the deer. If everyone would skip that beer, quit smoking and living to beat the jones and bought some property and managed it they could help rather then be part of the problem.Just think if 30 % of the pa. hunters bought 50 acres and rescued it from the developers. That would be 13,335,000 acres.Lord have mercy what a bunch of mini paradises. God bless

What you fail to realize is that artificially increasing the capacity, beyond what the habitat should be able to support is not helping the future of anything. We have thousands and thouands of acres of state land in this part of Pa.It's simply not possible to expect anyone, including the PGC to artificially feed these deer.Food plots in this part of the state are OK for several months of theyear but they do nothing for the deer during periods of deep snow, like this past year.Deer need browse,it's as simple as that.In fact, each deer needs several pounds a day tomake it through winter.I'll send someone an sd card next week so you can see what carrying too many deer for the habitat will do.

The browse that the deer don't eat during summer and fall because of the food plots, will be there for the deer during the winter.

I agree bb. But fact is, its really imaterial, doesnt matter a lick since the deer herd in many areas is far below the cc of the habitat and continuing to decline. There is more than enough food. The only thing we are in need of is appropriate non-extremist oriented management program.

Legislators just need to get off their duffs and make it happen. The deer belong to the people. Not pgc as they once mistakenly tried to claim in court. And the legislators jobs are to represent the people. The people by large are not concerned in the least with rediculous unnatural levels of biodiversity that exist nowhere else.

There is no doubt you are right. When we had 1.6M PS deer the herd was still below the MSY carrying capacity of the habitat and now that we have less than 1M PS deer there should be over 40% more food for the deer than in 2000. Also the fact that the statewide breeding rates decreased by 5% as the herd was reduced, means there was more than enough food when we had 1.6 M PS deer. Guys like RSB and Doug just can't handle the truth and have to resort to scare tactics to defend their position.

"there should be over 40% more food for the deer than in 2000."

Yep. But I guess thats not enough for the extreme biodiversity agenda.
