You have no proof to back any of rant rant up.The bb kill does not make up the majority of the antlerless harvest.
The butcher I took some meat to this year showed me his order invoice. On each deer brought in for skinning/ butchering he notates what sex the deer is. Atthe time thecountof antlerless was65, 39 of which were button buck. So Please, DougE continue to tell meI am wrong about what I have seen in the woods personally as well as what the butcher's invoice has shown. You are probably one of those who kill the yearlings I speak of, good job champ! If not I can't see why you would even respond to my post. I guess you are going to tell me I am wrong about seeing more wounded deer as well.

Send me a pm with the name of the butcher and I’ll check out what percentage were button bucks when our aging team visited the place.

The percentage of button bucks in the statewide antlerless harvestwas only 22% so I have to question the accuracy of your butchers count.

I understand your point. And I never said I was giving stats for the state as a whole, rather than quoting PAGC reports I tell what I see personally. In my area this was the ratio. Another factor is this it was still early in the season so as I pointed out with the 3 deer scenario, the early part of the season will have a higher fawn ratio. Simply because they are the youngest and most easily killed, once the current years fawn numbers drop from hunting there is a more balanced fawn adult ratio. Later in the season the adult does are taken in higher numbers. Usually after they chase off their fawns during the rut and then alot are shot due to being chased by the buck who run them ragged attempting to breed. They are less cautious at this time of the year due to being distracted by buck.

Sorry Doug I kinda confused the post.He shot his buck in archery so come rifle season he had some time on his hand and took a drive to check things out. That's when he saw the vehicles in the parking lots on sgl 93.He took the drive in rifle season.I'm not real good at explaining things.

R.S.B. I am still waiting on that info you promised about this pheasant restoration program, the results of which you claimed looks "promising".

Rich,SGL 93 gets some pressure during rifle season but nowhere near what it used to.Also,it's pretty easy to get away from the crowds and see plenty of deer.It does get hunted pretty hard though in rifle season but they don't get anywhere near all of them.

4ever,The fact is,the bb harvest is nowhere nearwhat the female harvest rate is.It really doesn't matter what your personal observations are either because others are entrely different. My observations are that less deer get wounded because instead of blasting at the first site of bone, hunters now have to slow downto what they're shooting at.Also, even though we have alot less deer than we used to,I'm seeing way more nice bucks than I did 10 years ago.I'm sure that isn't the same as your observations.I was forced to pass on three bucks that I would have mounted. That's never happened before.

I would say your theory is flawed.Mosthunters would be more likely to lay off the fawns early in the season and not shoot any until they start to get more desperate later on.Same with passing the smaller bucks early in the season and lowering your standards as the season progresses.

The ticks are brutal down around Anderson creek.Atually they'e bad everywhere on those game lands so spray down with some permanone. If I were you,I'd go in from the Home camp road.If you walk way down in,you'll find some beaver dams.Check those areas out for both deer and turkeys.

R.S.B. I am still waiting on that info you promised about this pheasant restoration program, the results of which you claimed looks "promising".

I just send your contact information to one of the head guys again. He tried contacting you the other time but couldn’t get your e-mail to work. I asked him to provide a contact e-mail of phone number for you to contact.

Let me know if anyone contacts you and I will send you a contact name and information as soon as I get a response back with the same.

I just heard back for Lynn Appleman and he said he had sent you an e-mail some time ago and thought you got it, (since he didn’t get it back as undelivered), yet never heard anything back from you.

He just sent you another e-mail at the address you provided. Let me know if you get it or not.

I am also working on getting an e-mail address or phone number for you to contact.
