As written on the PAGC website. Note that they are eliminating the use during the lat Muzzle season, you whiners didn't jump on that w/ glee! nI can still use my Dot scopes and also eliminates magnifying for you archers.

BOARD APPROVES EXPANDED USE OF CROSSBOWS
The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners today gave final approval to expand the lawful use of crossbows to include both the archery deer and bear seasons for the 2009-10 seasons. The Board amended the proposal by including a sunset date for the expanded crossbow use that will require a future Board to vote on the measure again before June 30, 2012.

Under the new regulation, a crossbow must have a peak drawn weight of at least 125 pounds, and a bolt must be equipped with a broadhead that has an outside diameter or width of at least 7/8 inches with at least two cutting edges on the same plane throughout the length of the cutting surface, and shall not exceed three inches in length.

Also, before giving the measure final approval, the Board adopted an amendment to prohibit the use of magnifying scopes for archery equipment and crossbows during the archery bear and deer seasons. The use of non-magnifying scopes – such as those that provide a red dot for sighting purposes – will continue to be legal.

The proposal given approval also would remove the lawful use of crossbows during the October muzzleloader or late flintlock muzzleloader season. Other changes made by the proposal simplify and make the language of the regulations easier to understand.

Duh!
The only reason they did that is so that xbow hunters have to buy an archery stamp instead of the cheaper muzzy stamp to use it in late archery which is the same dates as late muzzy

isnt magnification the point or am i missing something
A scope can be a red dot scope with no magnification or a scope with a dot or crosshairs with no magnification. So scopes with no magnification are legal and scopes with magnification are illegal.

I guess the HPA boys, are trying to figure out how to blame this on the USP. Wonder if Palone received a distributorship for crossbows out of this.

Dont know about pallone. Her motives are simply antideer oriented and more funding for pgc attempting to circumvent any changes that might be forced due to lack of money.

As for someone concerned with crossgun sales, Ask the commissioner who has the sporting goods business.

Well, for the time being, it's a done deal. Myself, I don't think for a NY minute that this fight is over. I've heard a few rumors since this morning.....don't be surprised if this fight spills over into other arenas.

As for me, I'm headed for the fly tying bench to relax, dream about rising trout and gobbling turkeys while I mentally piss and moan about the deer eradication plan in its current form. Piss on the PGC, piss on Ben Moyer and his Eco Management Project, piss on Audobon, and piss on Palone & Co. And just to be safe, in case I missed any person or group that has supported this mess, piss on them to.

Well gentlemen, I don'thow the rest of you feel, but I think my quality time that archery season provided me, just came to an end!I'm 53 years old. I gave up rifle hunting in 1980. Two reasons I did so was one: I just didn't feel any accomplishment taking anotherbuck with a firearm. It was like, another deer season here and another deer leaving the woods. How boring. The other reason was: I hunt all public land and I was getting tired of some of the idiots that shouldn't be in the woods. And I really believe I'm going to experience some of my past rifle season episodes again in future archery seasons. Guy's walking by me with there crossgun at half extended position, thinking they are going to put the sneak on a deer. Guy's posting out in front of me, even knowing I am there. This iswhat I dreaded about crossbows being passed.
