Sounds like your a little hunted out Ryan! My give a $hitter gets some cracks in it this time of year sometimes too. A few days away from it always cures me though! By the day after Christmas, I'll be ready to rock and roll on that big buck that I just know is out there!!

Struggled a bit in PA this year. Saw lots of signs but, hunting a Hickory Run SP and just could not connect with any pattern. No complaint on the signs. That kept it exciting as I was learning a new section of woods.

Hunted the first Saturday and saw very few hunters (they were mainly road hunting). Hunted all day and heard maybe one shot the entire time.. I was shocked! The opening dad my dad was there and heard only a few shots. Woods seemed dead as no deer were sighted during rifle.

I love the big woods just hard to find the deer some times...... Can;t wait till FL.

I'm thinking herd reduction has reached a point where its going to be hard to kill enough doe to continue reducing numbers, most local areas just don't have the populations to attract hunters.
You are right if you are talking about an area like 2g where the population has been reduced to less than 10 DPSM, but state wide we are still harvesting more than enough doe to reduce the herd even more. In 2007 the ratio of the antlered to antlerless in 2g was 1:1.29 ,which kept the herd stable. But statewide it was 1:1.95 which definitely reduced the herd.

So when do you predict the time will come that hunter numbers will decrease to the point that HR is not keeping pace with hunter recruitment?

It may have happened already in 2G , but there are too many variables to predict when it will happen in the rest of the state. the clue will be when the PGC can no longer sell the antlerless tags issued in a significant number of WMUs.

You don't think the PGC is over selling doe tags in most WMU unitsknowing that most hunters won't use them?

I think you tripped over your calculator there skippy.

If it already happened in 2G, and the first clue would be that the PGC wouldn't be able to sell all the antlerless tags, why was 2G the first WMU to sell out?
