here are results on bear season in pa.for first day
CLINTON COUNTY WAS NO.1 FOR YEARS.
1.potter county=153
2.lycoming county=135
3.tioga-125
4.mckean=96
5.clearfield=68
6.huntingdon=67
7.clinton= 52
clinton countytotal was just 78 bear .last year was 120.
here is what happened.bears DID NOT go to sleep, they werer not here in clinton after the snow and cold weather came in..
radio collars were placed on some of our bears.
they found them in POTTER COUNTY.
this is over 35 miles by highwayfrom where they were collared.of course, bears dont go by highway so it could be just 15 or so miles in a straight line over mountains.
mother and 2 cubs were tagged next to my home about 2 months ago here in clinton county.
about 2 weeks ago they left the area.
they were shot and found in the POTTER COUNTY area.
pgc could not believe they moved so far,so quick in those 2 weeks..
it was LACK OF ACORNS THIS YEAR THAT DID IT.
MOST LIKELY POTTER COUNTY HAD MORE FOOD THIS YEAR THAN CLINTON.
our biggest bear was 428 , thats small compared to ones for 10/20/30 years ago.
we had many over 500 years ago..
those bears have moved to food..
that is farms where corn is when no acorns are around.
remember that next year, find the county with FOOD and you will find bears.
all first 6 counties had corn this year,clinton is not a corn field county.
