Ok bluebird we all know your not in favor of AR, so given the current state of the PA deer herd what would your course of action to improve the current state of affairs. In other words lets hear what you are in favor of, instead of what your against.

Since the PGC only controls a small portion of the land in PA about all they can do is allow the herd to increase to the true MSY carrying capacity of all of the habitat, except in areas where the population needs to be limited due to deer human conflicts. Those that want larger racked bucks will still have the opportunity to have the challenge of hunting for 2.5+ buck , since we harvested more 2.5+ buck in the first year of ARs (2002),than we did in 2007, after 6 years of ARs.

That's it, you disapoint me bluebird, I thought you would have had a very specific 100 point plan already in mind. So I guess my instinces about you are correct you only like to complain about issues you don't understand, butnever offer solutions.

Why don't you define the problem that you think needs to be solved. Personally , I don't believe there was a problem with herd health,, breeding rates , productivity or rack sizes before the new deer management plan was implemented.

I lived in the state for 65 years except for two years in the Army and I've been hunting PA for over 50 years.

Now just what is the problem that you think needs to be solved?

buck to doe and Deer to habitat ratio, what do you consider a healthy ratio, and do you not beleive that the ratios in PA are skewed throughout the state. over popullated in urban areas and completly lacking in mountain areas And please do not waste my time telling me that your little 50 or so acre plot is and has been fine for all these years. I'm not a trophy hunter by any means but it is no secret that PA produces some very unimpressive deer heads for a state as deep into the hunting culture as we are. Bad management habits in the past due to trying to serve the public ie the money and not in the deers best intrest. Now that the state has seen the era of there ways and are making strides to rectife the problem for everyone. you critizise them because now you can't go out and see 100 deer ever day. And kill you traditional spike on the first day and call yourself a hunter

buck to doe and Deer to habitat ratio,
I agree with Dr. Kroll that the adult breeding B/D ratio should be 1:2 and that is what our B/D ratio has been in PA since the early 80's.

The deer/habitat ratio should be based on the MSY carrying capacity except where deer/human conflicts determine the acceptable deer densities. The PGC has not been able to control the herd in many areas due to limited hunter access. WMU2 G was at it's goal of 15 DPSM when the HR plan was implemented.
Bad management habits in the past due to trying to serve the public ie the money and not in the deers best intrest.
That simply is not true. The B/D ratio was not a problem, breeding rates and productivity were higher in the past than they are now and the length of the breeding period has not improved. Furthermore, there is no data available that documents whether the rack sizes of 2.5+ buck increased or decreased according to Dr. Rosenberry.

Are you sure you didn't sustain a head injury those two years you where in the Army. Once again as always you stated the same facts that you stated a hundered times before, you sound like a broken record and we all know that most people stop listening to broken records very fast. Please for Gods saketell us what you think the course of action should be! As I always told my employees "bring me solutions not problems".
