buck to doe and Deer to habitat ratio,
I agree with Dr. Kroll that the adult breeding B/D ratio should be 1:2 and that is what our B/D ratio has been in PA since the early 80's.
The deer/habitat ratio should be based on the MSY carrying capacity except where deer/human conflicts determine the acceptable deer densities. The PGC has not been able to control the herd in many areas due to limited hunter access. WMU2 G was at it's goal of 15 DPSM when the HR plan was implemented.
Bad management habits in the past due to trying to serve the public ie the money and not in the deers best intrest.
That simply is not true. The B/D ratio was not a problem, breeding rates and productivity were higher in the past than they are now and the length of the breeding period has not improved. Furthermore, there is no data available that documents whether the rack sizes of 2.5+ buck increased or decreased according to Dr. Rosenberry.
