NYer' s Youth Hunting Bills
#1
Two new Bills regarding youth bowhunting were introduced recently. One in the assembly and one in the Senate. The one in the Assembly is Bill A01099. It was sponsored by Assemblyman Richard Smith, and co-sponsored by Assembly members DelMonte, Magee, Tonko, and Towns. The one in the Senate is Bill S00930. It was sponsored by Senator George Maziars. Both Bills seek to lower the minimum big game bowhunting age from 14 to 12. We tried to ower it last year, but were defeated. Please contact your local Assembly member and you Senator. Let them know that you support the lowering of the hunting age. Take a kid hunting and you won' t have to hunt for your kid.

Charlie P, I have little info for you. I' m all for lowering the junior archery age to 12. I e-mailed Senator Marcellino informing him I was in support of lowering the age. I got an e-mail back from him informing me he was very much in support of lowering the age also. I see no reason why it wouldn' t pass. My son is excited, he' s been shooting some form of bow since age 3, and competed in a few childrens class 3d shoots!
