What will the PGC do about all the deer dieing in Greene and Washington Countys?

I was wondering if the deer seasons will be shortened in areas that have had problems with EHD/Blue tongue.
I hear the stench of decaying deer is pretty bad in some areas in Greene Co.
I went over there on my motorcycl about two weeks ago and smelled it in several places.I did find one dead one and smelled something dead in a couple other places while scouting.

My guess is that nothing will be changed simply because there are still 12000+ doe tags available for 2A. That and the fact that the PGC doesn't often make swift changes in any policy or practice make me think that nothing will happen just yet.
I dont hunt that area but I feel for you guys that do. It would be a bummer to ride through your favoritehunting area and smell death everywhere. Pray for that first hard frost!

I went back over to Greene Co. today to scout. Needless to say things look pretty bad.
Italked to the land owner and he has only seen one doe and a fawn in the last couple weeks that were alive.
He had to drag a dead buck out of his pond and said he has smelled some other dead deer near his home.
He said a neighboring farmer found 32 dead deer on his property.
He said if the PGC doesn't do something to shorten or close the season in that area he is posting his property. He also said many property owners have said the same thing.
I even found lots of white oak acorns just laying on the ground in one of my honey holes. Nothing is eating them.
I didn't see much sign at all.
I'm not sure what to do.
I'm not from Greene Co. so I'll try to find a place closer to home( Westmoreland Co.)

I am sorry to here about all those deer dying off. Here they would either shorten the season in that area or put restrictions on the deer harvest. The area I hunt up here has no doe permits during rifle season but, you can shoot a doe if you wished with a bow. They would not try and close the season up completely for fear of poachers keeping the deer count down and wouldn't be able to open it back up. I hope you have good luck over there turning things around and good luck on this season's hunting..

Alot of people are claiming there's too many deer in greene county and the numbers need reduced so I doubt adjustments will be made.

I've scouted state gamelands in Greene County half a dozen times since mid-August and have yet to see a dead deer, and I'd actually ballpark the live deer I've seen at somewhere around 50, with about 25% being bucks.

I really don't think its the PGC position to do anything. While yes lots of deer area dying, it seems to be extremely localized. I think it should be the local indivuals who should know whether or not thier area can take more deer being killed. I feel bad for those affected, but at this point in time its either find a place that still has deer, or take the hit and not shoot one in the affected areas. Good luck, it's got to be rough to deal with.

I hunt the western part of Greene near Ryerson.
Do you hunt the Gerrards Fort area?

I doubt the PGC will do anything this year and probably not next. It all depends on how many deer are dying off. It will have to get pretty bad for anyone to step in.
