They are different today, but, what I have read up on I do not think you can go wrong with Earthmate...

Check out the different features here www.delorme.com and the top of the line the new PN-20

Phil,
I'm trying to decide which one I want. I like theEarthmate because it offers street maps and topos. Is the sceen big enough to see everything? It appears small on their web site.

I saw one a friend has at work and it was clear enough for me plus you can zoom in on the area you want to see.. I am not exactly sure on what you want but it is top of the line in GPS sytems right now with an option to down load a satilite pic as well. Can also show you an airiel image as if you was in an airplane.. For me it has alot of great features that nothing else can compare to..Good Luck on what you decide.

Don't leave home without one! The newer models work really well. I am a big fan of Garmin, but others maybe as good. Also remember that a dead battery will make your GPS useless and always carry a backup solution like the always reliable topo map and compass.

A simple Garmin E-Trex here....but I'm never without a regular compass on a lanyard around my neck.
