You guys in "right to carry" states are lucky. Here in MD you just about have to have been mugged three times and left for dead in order to qualify. Either that, or be friends or relatives of the right people. Between taxes, gun control and liberal politiciansMaryland sucks!

Just a heads up on concealment permits in Pa. There are a few counties inwhich you may not carry a loaded, concealed firearm, even with the permit.
I've heard that about Philadelphia but I dont beleive a local ordinancecan supercede ourstate right to carry permit. I bet that if someone got pinched in Phillie for a concealed weapon and they had a permit ANDthey had a good lawyerAND plenty of defense money they would prevail.

Philadelphia lost their fight to have their own handgun and firearms laws some time ago, although now the SE Democrats in the House are striving to get them back. Every one of the new anti-gun bills introduced since the Dems regained the House, are sponsored by the same group of SE Democrats that havealways tried to restrict gun ownership in PA.

If you have a PA License To Carry, it is valid in every county, city and muncipality in Pennsylvania. It it also valid in dozens of other states that have signed a reciprocity agreement with our Attorney General.

im packin too, and reminded me i have to renew here in the next few months.

here's a good question, ive gotten different answers from different people. if you have a concealed permit can you carry a gun thats not registered in your name??
these are the answers ive heard, "no a gun you have on you must be registered in your name" and
"yes as long as the gun is registered, but itdoesnt have to be your name"
"long as you have the permit you can carry any gun"
See the law:

§ 6111.4. Registration of firearms.
Notwithstanding any section of this chapter to the contrary, nothing in this chapter shall be construed to allow any government or law enforcement agency or any agent thereof to create, maintain or operate any registry of firearm ownership within this Commonwealth. For the purposes of this section only, the term "firearm" shall include any weapon that is designed to or may readily be converted to expel any projectile by the action of an explosive or the frame or receiver of any such weapon.

I don't know about counties but I'm pretty sure this is the way it works for Philadelphia! I could be mistaken but that is what somebody told me!!
§6109. Licenses.
(a) Purpose of license -A license to carry a firearm shall be for the purpose of carrying a firearm concealed on or about one's person or in a vehicle throughout this Commonwealth.
As you all can see from the above posts, there is a lot of misinformation about carrying in Pa., even among hunters.

From what I read you can carry concealedin any countyin the state of PA. There are certain buildings you can't go into, but that's it. In Philadelphia you are not allowed to Open Carry, if you have a concealed carry permit it's no problem but I think the gun has tobe concealed. A lot of people don't realize you can open carry in PA without any kind of permit. Check out www.packing.org for each states laws. The NRA is also a good place and www.pafoa.org PA firearms owners association. I live in Pike county and I think the whole process took about 1 month.

steve, or whoever, so there is no way really to get a concealed weapon permit in MD. I have seen people owning gun shops have them, but is that the really only way? if you have a handgun, it must be unloaded and seperated from the ammo, correct? Im only 20 so in the next 6 months I will be buying a gun, and want to learn the laws. Can i carry it on my own property if im hunting or whatever? thanks alot guys
