Anybody familiar with this area? My dad used to take me there 30 odd years ago when I first started deer hunting. He took the biggest 8 point I have ever seen near there. If it still produces big deer I may go back next year. Thanks.

Hi Ron! It's like this. I was always a 270 man. Just for the heck of it I asked to look at a Remington 7600 that had been in the rack at wally world for a loong time. That gun fit me perfectly. It was just one of those things where everything lines up and feels right. The man said that he was knocking a hundred bucks off the regular price. It was a 308 but I bought it anyway. I took it home put some cheap winchester 150 gr psp's in it and fired it off the bench. The first group was sub moa as was the second and third. about .9" out of the box with factory ammo. So I took it out for deer season. 3 one shot kills, 2 doe and a 5 point. Excellent bullet performance. All three behind the shoulder. Fits me better than my Win 70 .270, performs very well, slightly less recoil on the bench.
I am now a 308 shooter. Wanna buy a 270?
Plus its a pretty good handle for these forums. No one else seems to be using it.

I have a Win model 88 lever action that I bought about 4 years ago , I also have a 7600 in 308 and a 7600 in 30-06. A few years ago
I was buying guns right and left. Someone just told me last week a bout 7600 misfires, and they had talked to another 7600 owner who was having the same problem, apparently caused by too much wd 40 and other crud built up around the firing pin, it concerns me a little, but I need tocheck into it a little more..
