i have only seen one eagle that i remember around my house in NNY, that was years ago. I know people whos ee them from time to time. My profesor was telling us today that she had one around her house a couple weeks ago.

I saw them all over the place in alaska. In denali we saw... golden eagles i think. And valdez had bald eagles all over the shore and streams

Here in Maine the state and the Feds. are currently deciding on whether to delist them or not. We see them all the time here now and when ice fishing you have to keep your fish either close by you or out of site as the eagles will swoop down and take them from you when your back is turned.

A few years back, I was in Sullivan County NY and I spotted a young bald eagle still with the brown head. As it flew off, on a whim, I pointed and took a shot with my digital camera.

Amazingly, I caught a PERFECT picture of the eagle flying, I mean PERFECT. This was like my best picture ever.

Sure enough, my computer crashed a few months later and I lost everything, including a few other pictures that were great, some from that same trip. I will never forget that bird.

I had another cool encounter with one while takign a solo road trip across Colorado in a pickup truck with no radio! another great story.

I love our National Bird!

I've seen eagles a number of times in the area of Elk Creek as well as along 79 when heading home from the lake.
I'm surprised there aren't any at Presque Isle. Do you know of any around there Joe?

They have been seen there but I don't if any are nesting on the penninsula. The ones I have seen tended to be west of that area. I've seen them at Elk Creek and in trees by the boy scout camp.

Thanks for the feedback Joe. I know what camp your referring to. I haven't been there since a church camp about 25 years ago. PI sure does seem like a place that should have a few nesting pairs of Eagles. Plenty of small prey out there.

PI has so much year round human activity on it and that may be moving the birds to a less disruptive location. I know many times when we fish the bay very early in the year there's people on the water and on the penninsula - even when its freezing cold.

A game warden is talking to a mountain man. The warden says eagles are comming up missing in this area. The game warden says he believes it's poachers just killing them. The mountain man says I would never just kill an eagle just to kill it. Anyway the warden after talking to this mountain man offers him one of his sandwiches that he brought with him on his day out scouting and looking for signs of a poacher. The mountain man says, This sandwich is prettygood what is it? The warden says it's a chicken sandwich. The mountain man looks at him and says, It shure taiste alot like eagle.

Well I was out again today on a test drive at another location approximately 4 to 5 miles East of the last location that I saw the Eagle and I looked out on the ice and thought I saw what looked like a Turkey Vulture as I got a bit closer the guy with me noticed he couldn't see the head and said he thought it was a seagull. I burst out laughing and told him I'd never seen a black seagull and especially never a seagull that large. As we got even closer and it took flight we both said at the same time "That's an Eagle". Sure enough it was the second time in less than a few weeks we'd spotted and Eagle along Lake Erie. So freakin cool!
