Erwin Wildlife Management Area, NY

Does anyone have any info on this unit? I am heading west with a buddy on tuesday morning, kind of on a whim since we both have vacation right now, and I found this spot which seems easy to get to and is reported to have decent hunting. We will be bowhunting with climbers and camping out. (A little spontaneaous adventure is always nice!)
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I live a short distance from it, what would you like to know?
The hunting isn't as good as it used to be there but I understand it's still decent. I hunt it only ocasionallyas I own my own land. It's pretty good size, approx 2200 acres and that is surrounded by more woods as well. THere's been a fair amount of logging going on there and imo has ruined some beautiful sections. Probably doesn't hurt the deer much but it's certainly more difficult to walk around. Lots of underbursh and deadfalls. Oh well.

I used to hunt there, it has a nice deer population. The logging may have made it harder to hunt but it will be beneficial in the long run. The area I had the most success is on the north west side of the road once you get on top of the hill. There is a nice mix of pines and hartwoods.
Good luck. Let us know what you see and what you thought.

I live in Erwin! Excellent hunting here on public and private land!! Logging and construction in some areas may hamper areas near, but not bad. We were up in there this week and kicked up a few doe, saw some rubs and scrapes and a lot of deer trails! Good luck!

Well just got back, no score, but a lot of activity! I saw 3 different 6 pointers, and about 7 does. One more day and I know I would have gotten one as we had them figured out by tonight, but had to leave. I will certainly be using that place for archery season, but a local guy told me that shotgun gets crazy there.
