Spend time in the woods? That's funny.I spend more time in the woods than anyone I know.Just ask my wife.

The FLIR was done onstate forest land. They only counted the deer in the dmap areas.

You keep getting hung up on the over winter deer density. That 16 deer over winter will provide over 20 deer in the fall, even more if the habitat was in better shape.

Most of 2E is private property.Other than that small piece of Moshannon state forest,it's all private. There's still lots of places to hunt in that area.I've killed a bunch of deer on Knisely's land and Orners land.Anyone can hunt there if they ask.Eighty percent of Pa is private land and most of it gets hunted very hard.

I just heard that WMU 2G is sold out of Antlerless tags. They only got 19K, which on the surface seemed good. The real truth is that there will be more than enough DMAP tags for sale to satisfy those who did not get an Antlerless tag for 2G. And the real rub is who's gonna know if the DMAP kills were made on DCNR land or not?
Remember, DMAPs don't have to report their kills. A very convienent dispensation worked out by the PGC and DCNR.

District 9 has not increased the amount of dmap tags and many other districts have decreased theirs and taken certain units completely out of dmap because they got their desired results. There's plenty of state forest land in this area that is not enrolled in dmap.

Anyone with a dmap tag still has to report it,whether successful or not.

you are right ,crazy horse.dmap tags are being used anywhere.who is watching, no one.what a joke.sadly, deer are taking beating on these dmap tags.good hunters with time are cleaning up with all these tags.1 or 2 day hunters dont stand chance.i see hunters riding roads, day in and day out to fill all those tags.some work for dcnr too.

chucks, they are not poachers.poachers DO NOT hunt in daylight.they all have tags legally.no one is checking where hunters are huntiung with dmap tags.its joke.always was.as for turning in poachers.you have to see them to turn someone in.that is why the robo deer only catchs the 1 time a year road hunters.the poachers are home in bed.

I beg to differ. I thought anyone taking a deer (or other game) illegally was a poacher. Is my definition wrong? Maybe, technically, legally. But ethically it's still wrong. And if I'm not mistaken it is illegal and they should be reported. I know I don't wish to see such slobs continue.

poaching is going out after hours ,usually in dark and shooting deer. riding roads shooting deer during regular hours is called road hunting. both are illegal. most hunters dont concern themselves with hunters that ride roads hunting during regular hours.the poachers they do. poachers are ones that are hard to catch. road hunters are caught each year, some 2 times. what needs done is for pgc to set up their deer after dark, not during the regular hours.then they would catch the poachers.for your info, if i have info of poachingthat i can prove, i do call the pgc and will turn them in. sadly, its hard to catch them in act.

Here is a definition from an on line dictionary... I could not find a match for poach, poacher or poaching searching the NYS statutes. Don't knowif other states use the term in the laws.

poach·er(pchr)

NOUN:

[ol][*]One who hunts or fishes illegally on the property of another. [/ol]

YOU for sure have your alot of criminal poacher vultures in 2G..but if you really want to see the masters in action, take one step south to 2E..pound for pound, the best in the east..known to all and done nothing to by all...2E..the worst WMU in the state..period..deer, turkey and bear season last 365 1/4 and Sunday hunting has been in effect for years !!! Shooting takes place day and night all the time..it's rediculous..
