Default Anyone lose a deer in Southern NH this year?

While out hare hunting in Southern NH yesterdayI came across this guy a long way from any road. The coyotes had eaten EVERYTHING except his feet and the top of his head, including the ribs. There wasn't a single scratch on his rack though. He's a real beauty, nice main frame 10 with 2 stickers. I have to think he was wounded as it is hard to believe a buck like this, which would have gone over 200lbs in this area, would have been coyote bait.

I know I would still be moping if I had lost this guy!

He could have been worn down from the rut, or could have been injured from fighting during the rut and that's why the yotes got him

Nice looking buck, too bad it was wasted on the coyotes. A nice buck like this could have run him self down with the rut or got hurt. Souns like a good place to watch for coyotes. I used to live in Ashburnham, MA and had a pack coyotes in the yard several times. I think the damn things got our family cat.

Yotes do go after bucks like that, I "saved" one from them one year, the coyotes were screaming away and coming closer so I knew something was coming, figured it would be a small doe running from them and if so, I would just let her go and shoot the yote! (Bucks only). Well a MONSTER buck came trotting through and when I got over my shock, I shot at him and missed, he took off, yotes stopped coming and everyone lived through it [&:]
