Sounds like u should have gave her a little bit. That happens to the best of us. 180gr in a 30-30? I didnt know remington made 180gr core lokt's for the 30-30 all i have ever seen is 150gr and 170gr. Tell him to perk up. He'll hammer the next one.

The best hunter I ever knew convinced me that if you do not actually see the deer drop, wait at least an hour. That advice has resulted in more than a few deer, or at least made their recovery easier. It is the one thing that most bowhunters do better than gun hunters, waiting that hour (which always feels like 1 day!) before picking up the trail gives you a much better shot of finding them, or making a second finishing shot with a gun.

Yes you are correct - 170 he was using and it was express not core lok (he reminded me last night reading the posts!)
He has a new ML and we will be hitting the hills SAT am - hope it is dry.
