It's served me well, I know that. After a few years of observation, however, I am opposed to the herd reduction.
Antler restrictions with limited doe harvest would be a dream.

I think the AR are long overdue. I have shot about 20 bucks in the past 30 years. Until last year only 1 wasmore than 1 1/2 years old. I hunt 4C in PA and saw 5 bucks and 2 does in 50 hours of hunting. All bucks, 4 different for sure, were nice big 6's and one 8 and one 9 that I shot. I wonder how many of the complainers of too many doe being shot harvested a doe in 2004. I bet they are they same people who say they were overservered when the get pulled over for a D.U.I. I havetwo 4c doe tags this year and they are staying at home. ALT will not destroy my spot.

I like the AR. I got to hunt fora coupleyears before them, and between then and now...i have really started to see more bucks, not to mention the bucks i see are a lot bigger. The doe harvests need to be lower though. I remember my when my Dad was extatic to get a doe tag, unlike now where it is just expected.

I was doing my own AR by choice before this got started.I think it's working in some areas but on most public land the deer numbers are so low it's really hard to tell.
We were killing some great bucks before AR so I honestly can't say in our area.

I guess I could sum it up better this way.Speaking for the area we hunt in 2G we used to find nice bucks back in the nasty thick stuff. This still holds true today only there's less of them in a big way.
Used to be they shot the smaller bucks out in the open woods closer to the roads.Mostly for the older big boys you had to go back in that thick stuff.

AR has been a success but the HR has gone too far in some areas.
Lost Horn,
They're gone due to their behavior not their views. Those of us who've been here a long time all know where you stand on this issue but you've managed to state your point without crossing that line that those two (and all their alias's) crossed many times. I for one respect your views even if we don't agree often and I'd guess that most here do as well.
Lost Horn,
Sorry, I can't say too much on the subject or I will be where uncle uly, ddear and others are.

Once more I must say I believe that antler restrictions are working in my area of Delaware Co. I'm seeing more larger bucks than before, so I must believe what I see. I'm pumped!!!

about all we see around here now are spikes and pencil racks. most of the nice racks were thined out in the first couple years. to many hunters and not enough deer. seems to be a bad combination.
