Default Deer in my New Back Yard!!!

Yesterday I was measuring the property for a fence I'm putting in this weekend at our new house. While walking through the little patch of woods that runs across the back of our property. I noticed what looked like deer trails but wasn't sure. Then I noticed fresh deer droppings right on the edge of our lawn. We have a few crab apple trees, cherry trees and bushes with berries (not sure what kind yet). They must come from the nearby woods to eat the suburban goodies. I'm in Audubon (where Chris Jone's 197" buck came from last season). Hopefully the fence won't discourage the deer. I'd love to see some deer in my back yard. Maybe a nice buck would be nice enough to leave a shed or two for me as well.

That is good news and Jones's buck sure was a dandy. We keep a copy of the picture of it down at the shop for customers to oogle. Just out of curiousity, where did you move from?

We are moving from the Norristown area. Before that, we lived in Schwenksville. We do most of our hunting in Sullivan County, though.

I also have deer in my back yard here in NH. I live in a residential neighborhood that hold small pockets of woods. I have even videotaped them in the past. It seems I will see them at least a few times a week for 3-4 months and then not see them for a few months. It kinda goes in cycles. On those time I do not see them, I have walked out back and their sign is everywhere.

They're still there using the same areas and always staying at least 40 yds from the house during the day. At night it is totally different. Just ask my wife when she sees the damage they have done to the plants and flowers.

Barnes, I'm like you, I love to see deer in the yard, but like my Better-Half, I hate to see what damage they can do. She vows one day she'll get'em with her rake!

I do hunt in PAJack's back yard quite a bit. Luckily he hasn't run me off yet. I have to put the fence up due to 2 dogs and 2 little kids. However, it's only a 4 foot fence and I don't think the deer will mind. Only problem with blasting them from my deck is that they would have to cross 7 people's yards before they got into the big wood lot where they come from. I don't want to have to drag a deer across people's lawns.
