Question for IL deer hunters from a dumb Missourian
I am a Missouirian and may have a chance to hunt some farmland in western IL. My gf's grandparents land. They only let one guy bowhunt on the land, so it is virtually unhunted. They are not very trusting to say the least. I may have the chance to hunt the land next season and I have heard it is difficult to get out of state licenses in IL or difficult to get the zone you want. Is this true? Obviously, it would not be worthwhile for me to get the a different area, because that area would be the only one I would hunt. Please help this stupid Missourian out.

The tag situation is up in the air right now. According to proposals made last week by the DNR, you will need to apply for one of 7500 NR tags available in the general lottery. (That is bow hunting)
This may be thrown out if some current legislation or a lawsuit passes. The bill and suit ask that the NR cap be removed. If that is the case, the tags will be available to all that apply.
If you are thinking shotgun, you get in a draw in August. You should have a good chance at being drawn.
Good luck!
