Default iowa rut

Anyone seen any rutting going on? Think it will be happening some this weekend?

I've been seeing several mature bucks moving, through out the day, I've seen very little chasing, but I've seen several scrapes and rubs.

I watched a nice 8pt chasing two does tonight, but they were too far away and it was getting dark. Jim

Last 2 years the rut was getting good starting the 3rd. Looks like it will be better in my area in a few days. Started seeing bucks (small ones) on a regular basis last week. Saw my 1st nice one this am...

The IA deer are moving NOW!!! If you are not hunting hard and heavy, you are missing out. We have seen more nice bucks the last three days than we have seen all season. I missed a nice one Sat AM, but even us old hunters get buck fever. I watched him work a scrape 15 yards from my treestand for several minutes. He peed, pawed and raked the ground while I was drawn back waiting for a good shot. Then he stood on his hind legs to work scent on the overhanging limb. My arm was tired and I was shaking. When he finally went down the trail, my arrow was deflected by a small branch. I was a wreck and the buck just walked away. I love hunting. Jim

Getting more activity-still haven't seen a real biggie though I am seeing some nicer 8s & several smaller Bucks. Does are just trotting away when the bucks come around.

Things were really going a few days ago, starting to see most of the big boys locked up with does now. Last Sunday, the 7th, I saw 14 bucks and 30+ does.....

Went out to the same stand with my dad tonight and saw 19 does and yearlings in the alfalfa and not one single buck around them.

The bucks a thick in Iowa. I lost count on how many I have seen over the last two weeks. Several real nice ones.
