I agree with you Wibucksniper. I hunt 22&22A and see any where between 8 to 23 does at once in alfalfa field and maybe ONE buck.Land owner and surronding owners won't shoot does and I catch heck for shooting one but they will shoot anything with antlers.Been told to find different place to hunt. plain sucks when we can't get along, people worry more about them selves than overall situation

"Earn a Buck" was anounced three years ago. If Deer management untis did not meet quotas for three years in a row, they would become "Earn a Buck".
If you are surprised or wondering why ..... you were not paying attention.
Quit whining, climb of the bar stool, stop baiting, start learning to hunt, and shoot some does!!!!!!!

Yogi, no, my comments were not directed at you, I was just in a mood last night. Sorry you lost access to the farm, but for what it's worth, we all know you did the right thing. You would be welcome to hunt with me anytime. Wish there were more deer hunters around like you. History has shown that WI deer hunters are very, very, slow to change. The problem then arises when the deer populations change faster than the hunters attitudes.
th_15, Yes, there is Tzone, and where T-zone has not worked for three years you now have "Earn a Buck". It is as simple as that.
Your rantings do not merit comment. But yes, I have seen an 8 pt doe, at least 2, and another that was maybe a 6. they are called Hermaphrodites, with both male and female organs, and they were in velvet the end of November.

Wisconsinites tell me why the bickering and not seeing deer from a few of you?
Supposedly your state has more deer than ours(Minn) and less square miles. You seem to be loaded with deer and you all should be in favor in reducing your herd????????

As a fellow hunter in a CWD area, Wibucksniper and DKBS you guys are right on. Everyone should go back and re-read both of their posts. Hunting is much more exciting now as there are more mature bucks out there. Even if I don't get to shoot one, it is awesome to see a 130-150 class buck doing his thing! The two doe from last bow season taste great. I legally had the chance to shoot at over 20 different bucks, but never pulled the trigger. I don't want the earn-a-buck to go on forever, but I do think that it is very beneficial to areas of the state with an out of whack doe/buck ratio. Give it a chance and I think that on the last day of the season, when your freezer is full of doe meat and you still see some bucks out running around you will be happy, and thinking about Next Year.
Buckmine...One major factor that you haven't thought of. Wisconsin has 2X more deer hunters than MN does (900,000 vs. 450,000) in less square miles. That means a lot to the annual harvest, so some guys aren't going to see much. Our deer opener is almost a state holiday, similar to your fishing opener. There are also lots of places in MN where there aren't many deer. Especially after the winter of '97. You might not be north enough to have been affected by that one, but deer were pretty scarce in the top 1/4 of the state, Lots of complaining and guys that just didn't hunt. Things seem to be doing in most of those areas...except where the wolves have almost taken over.

Obviously, if some of you guys hunt in the "hot zone" you have witnessed the over abundance of deer. Sooner or later Mother Nature needed to do something! Some areas with 100 per sq mile is ridiculous. Up in the snow country in far northern part of the state, winter kill and wold predation keeps the herd in check...at least in my area. I do not beleive the "estimated" numbers in certain areas.
