I am wanting to bear hunt in Michigan on private land. Do I need to go through the draw process or is the draw for management areas only? Iron County is where I would be hunting. Thanks for any help.

You will have to apply in the drawing for the Bear Management Unit(BMU) the property is located, and for the hunt you want to hunt in. Some BMUs have 3 separate seasons.

I lived my entire life in Iron County. If you are a non-resident and want to hunt bear you must apply. If you are lucky you might get a tag?Ilive here and it takes me a few years to get one. A person never knows when you might get drawn, can win if you dont play.
My advice is to look at the different season choices and apply according to demand for tags and success. Some hunt choices are better options then others.
If you have private land to hunt any season is as good as the next.If I was you I would apply for the last season all three choices. That season is around three weeks long and runs until about Oct 27 th,this gives a guy alot better chance., not only at drawing a tag but by then the hound hunters are gone for the most part.
Good Luck
