RE: Kansas
Have any of you guys ever hunted the Kansas early muzzleloader season? If so, have you hunted public walk-in land? I'm wondering if it's as crazy as the regular rifle season. I'm wanting to get into hunting Kansas deer next year but without private land to hunt I'll have to resort to public land (walk-in or otherwise). I'm leary about hunting during rifle season but muzzleloader sounds promising. Thanks for your response.

RE: Kansas
There are lots of crops on most public land as the KDWP farms for the wildlife. There are also lots of crops within the Walk-in Hunting areas in Kansas. I was fortunate enough to shoot a 145"8 pointer first light of opening day, a nice large doe 10 minutes later, another doe by 11:30am and my buddy from Colorado shot a very heavy153" 8 pointer not 5 minutes later. We took it easy the rest of the day, I went and bought another doe tag and shot my 4th deer of the week Friday morning. I rattled in the buck I shot at first light and spot and stalked the rest. Very strong North winds allowed us to move very quietly through the woods. The longest shot taken was my 2nd doe at approx. 75 yards. All these were taken on private land however that I don't allow anyone else to hunt until after I have hunted the rifle season.
