Default Shotgun hunting Lake Shelbyville Il. public land?

I hunt the public land around Lake Shelbyville Il. for archery season. The land I hunt does not require anybody to have a site permit. My question is, do I need to get a special shotgun permit for this particular site or do I just get a general shelby county permit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

steelerslayer, yes, you need a special permit! It's listed as LSPShelby. Lake Shelbyville Project-Shelby county. You need this permit in all areas of Shelby county Corps. of Engineer land except, Wolf Creek State Park & Eagle Creek State Park which are special hunt areas in themselves.

I THINK you apply for it when you apply for your firearms permit
By the way---How is the hunting around Lake Shelbyville? Have camped there before and was just wondering

That's what you do. It is WAY too late for this season.

It's like most public access, if you put in the effort and mostly stay away from the roads, you can have decent success. Be willing to put up with anything other hunters throw at you. I mostly hunt during the work week so I eliminate most hunters, but just this morning, I had another hunter walk within 20 yards of my stand after I had been there for 45 minutes. He then walked out at 8:30 and asked what all I had seen, as a very large 10 pt. was walking into the bedding area just 200 yds. away. Being on the ground he couldn't see him. I've hunted this area for over 20 years and have seen it all. Just be curtious to other hunters using the same area and everyone will get along.
